Re: Boys Regionals - 12/14/23 07:14 PM

How did Hiawatha end up in a 321A regional when the KSHSAA classification numbers show them with more students the some of the other schools that are in the 4A regionals. looks like cutoff line was Hoyt-Royal Valley and Beloit

Hiawatha HS260
Hesston HS259
Meriden-Jefferson West HS256
Burlington HS255
Baxter Springs HS253
Lindsborg-Smoky Valley HS251
LaCygne-Prairie View HS250
Marysville HS249
Wellsville HS247
Halstead HS240
Cheney HS236
Anthony/Harper-Chaparral HS235
Silver Lake HS233
Hoyt-Royal Valley HS229
Beloit HS228

Looks to me that they say 63 are in 4A and only assigned 61 to regionals. Hiawatha is bigger than several that are in 4A. I'm not sure what other school needs to be moved to 4A as well??

Re: Boys Regionals - 12/14/23 08:51 PM

Hiawatha is in a co-op with Troy and Doniphan-West. That’s probably why, but on that same note Hesston has a co op with Moundridge and halstead has a co op with Sedgwick. That’s the only thing that I can think of.

It shouldn't surprise me the didn't put Hiawatha in 4A, where they should be. In basketball, they put Marmaton Valley's girls in Class 1A, Division I, and their boys in 1A, Division II.

Looks like KSHSAA has updated the regional assignments. Hiawatha has been moved back to 4A and Hoyt-Royal Valley is in 321A.

Re: Boys Regionals - 12/28/23 09:40 PM

Honestly another question is why does 4a get 63 schools representing 4-1A (40%) and 321A gets 60% remaining (96 schools) ? Meanwhile 5a and 6a get only 32 teams each?

How about we go 48, 48, 64, 63?

They should also consider the 3-2-1A Schools that co-op with other schools, and what their count is for their wrestling programs. The Southeast of Saline regional will start at 10 and get over at 4, considering how few of wrestlers will be at that regional.

Man, I'm glad someone already did the math for me, I hope you are correct.

I do like how KSHSAA quietly added another school to our regional.

I believe Sylvan coops with Russell

Re: Boys Regionals - 01/12/24 01:42 AM

That’s who they brought in. If it would have been done at the right time, somebody else at the top would have been kicked up to 4a. I don’t care about Sylvan coming, but I do care when things are done on the DL by the State
