I would like to encourage all Kansas wrestlers to compete in this years Southern Plains Regional Championship. The tournament will be held at Hutchinson High School on April 28 & 29. It has been a number of years since the last time that Kansas has hosted this tournament. For Juniors this is a national qualifying tournament. If you place in the top three at this tournament you are an automatic qualifier for Fargo and it will not be counted as one of our alloted spots for Nationals. There is also a Kids and Cadets division. You can save yourself $10.00 by pre-registering at themat.com. This tournament does conflict with Cadet FILA, if you are not going to Chicago I would like to see you at Hutch. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase Kansas wrestling.

Man, I wish that tournament was in Hutch when I went to it.
At which venue do they hold Cadet Fila?

My question would be, if you qualify as a Junior and are of Cadet age then will you be a Junior for Fargo or a Cadet? I like the idea that this doesn’t count against the Kansas team numbers.

Anyone going down to Hutch from the Lawrence or Baldwin area? Looking to maybe catch a ride and share gas and hotel expenses.

parkwayred - If you are eligible to compete as a Junior and a Cadet, and if you place in the top 3 at the Junior Regionals, you are an automatic qualifier for the Junior Nationals at Fargo. If you decide to compete in Fargo as a Cadet, the automatic qualifier you earned as a Junior would go unused, and would not carry over to the Cadet Nationals.

Don't forget to register online for the tournament in Hutchinson. Since USA Wrestling is using computer pairings for all divisions at this tournament, they want everyone to go online (including Kids & Cadets). Any entries that do not register online in advance will be charged an additional $10 fee. Although you register online, you will not have to pay for the entry until you arrive at the tournament.
