Just got a message from proud sister Hannah that Jesse Strawn is in the semis hoping to make the finals of the Colonial Athletic Association NCAA qualifier tournament. I'll keep everyone informed as to what is going on.

DI is about politics, Strawn didn't qualify...that conference only has 21 bids basically meaning Top 2 make it and then one wildcard, he didn't have a chance to wrestle for True 2nd, thus finished 3rd and did not qualify. I know Kriegbaum at Air Force a 2x qualifier if I'm not mistaken didn't qualify this year.

Jesse is mentioned in Intermat article about the top 35 kids looking in that had good seasons but didnt get qualified.
I am sure this will make him even more hungy next year..

It isn't about politics, it is about conference strength, based on All-Americans in previous years. It seems loaded in favor of big 10, who get 70 qualifiers out of a possible 110, but past performances indicate that the 7th place guy from there, or the 4th place from Big 12, will be the winner versus 2nd place from CAA

I know Kriegbaum at Air Force a 2x qualifier if I'm not mistaken didn't qualify this year. A wrestler gets what he earns - placing fourth (Kriegbaum) in a very weak Regional is not worthy of a wildcard berth.

Most of the Big 12 fourth place finishers qualified. Only 12 people out of 50 stay home. Seems to me that the Big 12 (Big 5) have it the best of any conference. Big 12 = 76%; Big 10 = 65%.

I live and work in stillwater, and work for OSU, and that surprised even me! But I also remember a few years back when the coaches voted in a 4th place kid with an 8-9 record for the season-all he did was win Nationals that year, and become a 4 time finalist. Recognize that scenario?
I was definitely NOT trying to say there aren't deserving kids in the other conferences-just the odds are better the 5th place kid in Big XII probably has a better chance, because of competition level. Somewhat like the 3-2-1A state tourney used to be, where the 3rd place out of NW had a better chance to place than the 1st place kid from the other regionals.
