Not sure about Colt but Nate 2nd to Callahan in a very good tough match. Serious contrats to Callahan he wrestled a very smart match and an exciting 3-2 win, no mistakes and Nate just got out wrestled.

As to Wizzers reports, I am still in Kansas City, will be leaving this afternoon, from across the state we had close to 100 wrestlers wrestling with us and we likely have 75 All Americans. Our coaches were continually moving from 1 mat to the other but our Wichita area boys where I was around most did an outstanding job. There is an old saying that Iron Sharpens Iron, and with approximately 50 wrestlers just from that area, and so many state HS champions in the room, one night I counted 22, you can't help but get better.

A special thanks to all of the wrestlers but also some of the coaches like Steve Herman, Ray Kramer, Zac Pogue, and Curtis Chenoweth who didn't have any kids wrestling involved but were still in the practice room working with the wrestlers, and for all of them, and then the others who at their own expense came to Kansas City to help coach. I don't know if the parents or wrestlers realize the sacrifices these coaches like this make but it is much appreciated. All of them except Steve Herman who was in Reno but was there for each practice, and Curtis Chenoweth who was at practice and the tournament got their coaches shirts. There were many Wizzer Champions and like I mentioned earlier, many, many All-Americans. It is an honor to work with these young men, all too many to mention but Kansas can be proud.

While there are many things about the tournament one could complain about, and likely should, the competition was second to none. A very tough tournament and our Kansas wrestlers excelled. Hopefully with the outstanding showing of Kansas wrestlers involved, our voices will be heard to make the needed improvements for the future. For those suggestions though, we likely need another thread.

Rogers lost in OT to Alan Waters from Missouri. If you go to intermat.com and click on the intermat logo on the top left hand side and then scroll down on the left you can see the brackets

A big thank you to all who posted results! I'm sure it took a ton of extra time and effort but it was greatly appreciated. Since we couldn't make it this year, it was fun to check in once in a while to see how the kansas kids were doing! Congrats to all!

I would like to congratulate all the Kansas wrestlers who participated in Brute this year. I am just as proud of the guys who went 0-2 but were willing to show up and wrestle, even though they knew they had slim to zero chance of placing. They did it just so they could get better and have the experience of a large tournament environment in which to acclimate themselves for next time.

There is a lot of focus on the Champions, as well there should be. Let's not forget that some of the guys who placed 2nd – 8th wrestled in some very large brackets with lots of competition. Other brackets were relatively small. Everything needs perspective. Everyone who wrestled and performed their very best has my congratulations.
