I believe, as of last year, that Mr. Bowden stated that they were not considered a "legal" uniform in Kansas. I'm unsure of their status this year.

Wrestling Rules Book 2006-2007
Rule 4: Wrestlers’ Classification and Weigh-In
Section 1: Wrestlers’ Uniform Article 1 ... Wrestlers shall wear:
a. a sleeveless shirt fastened at the crotch and cut no lower in the back or front than the level of the armpits and under the arms no lower than one- half the distance between the armpit and the belt line. If sufficient reason is determined by the referee a tight-fitting, short-sleeved undershirt of a single, solid color unadorned with no more than one manufacturer’s logo/trademark/reference may be worn under the sleeveless shirt;
b. either full-length tights, with stirrups, and close fitting outside short trunks or a properly cut one-piece uniform with a minimum 4-inch inseam and a maximum length of above the knee;
c. a singlet with the top cut as outlined in (a) with full-length tights and stirrups. The uniform shall be a school issued uniform. (Photo 1)
Full-length tights with stirrups are acceptable under a one-piece uniform. Any other undergarment that extends beyond the inseam of a one-piece uniform shall be a tight-fitting, single solid color, unadorned and shall not extend below the knee.

Wrestling Case Book 2006-2007
Rule 4: Wrestlers’ Classification and Weigh-In
Section : Uniform
Situation B
4.1.1 Situation B: Wrestlers of Team A report for competition in: (a) one-piece singlet commonly used for international competition; or (b) two-piece uniform consisting of Bermuda shorts and properly cut shirt; or (c) full-length tights (with a stirrup) over which is worn a one-piece uniform with the shirt cut so the front and back are level with the armpit but the dip under the arm is cut below the mid-point between the wrestler’s waist and armpit; or (d) either full-length tights with close-fitting outside short trunks and a legal shirt or a properly cut one-piece uniform without full-length tights; or (e) full-length, one piece uniform with stirrups.
Ruling: The uniforms in (a), (b) and (c) are illegal. Wrestlers will be given their injury time to secure uniforms that comply with the rules. Failure to appear with the required uniform shall result in a disqualification. The uniforms in (d) and (e) are legal. A team may have part of their wrestlers in any of the legal uniforms.
Comment: No wrestler should be permitted to report to the mat with an illegal uniform and have the embarrassment of being denied the opportunity to wrestle. If this occurs, it is because of one of two reasons. First, the referee has not carried out the prescribed pre-meet duties by visiting each locker room in order to examine the uniforms. The other possible reason this may happen is that the wrestler and/or coach are defying the referee’s decision that the uniform is not legal. (1-2-7; 7-5-3)

so is that a yes we can wear them...? As stated in the uniform alert and the 2006-2007 Case Book, the two piece singlet is illegal for NFHS approved competition.

For those close on weight, you can ask some of the National teams that have worn them, they weigh between 2 and 6 ounces more than the regular style, which means, after weighing in in your singlet, cutting down 2 - 6 ounces more. I don't know why anyone would want them at that point.
