Norton scores of duals wrestled Thursday night at WaKeeney:

Norton 30, Smith Center 28
Norton 61, Trego 18

Going in to this dual Norton was the #5 team in 3-2-1A and Smith Center #1 in the most recent rankings.

In what was the best match of the evening (in my opinion) Colt Rogers of SC defeated Kaenon Keiswetter by the score of 9-7 (wt. 125). Colt fought off his back for 25 of the last 30 seconds of the third period. Kaenon had caught Colt in a killer headlock and as Coach Johnson said, it looked like Colt had to dislocate his neck to get out of it!

Another excellent match was at 140 where Todd Bolt (NT) was defeated by Trevor Rempe at the very end of the match. With the score tied 4-4 and six seconds left Bolt hits a sit out and looks for a hard switch; he exposes his back, Rempe stops the roll through for one, MAYBE two, seconds, the buzzer goes off and two back points were awarded Rempe. A very, very questionable call to say the least. No doubt they will see each other again at the MCL Tournament and hopefully at Hays.

For the evening, Norton won six matches, with three by fall (Little Bainter, Broeckelman-2 and Big Bainter and one forfeit (to 285 Alex Thomas). Smith Center won 8 matches, but only two had for bonus points: a major decision at 171 and a forfeit at 215 (NT's Derauf was held out of competition with a minor injury to allow him to be 100% for the Newton Tournament).

A really good match!

sounds like another great matchup. IMO these are usually 3 of the best duals in the MCL every year.

That was always my favorite dual to wrestle in, either in Tregos old gym or Nortons old gym, both provided a great enviroment. I didnt get to make i was helping a friend set up his new place he just moved into and commited before i knew the dual was last night. Would be curious to hear all of the matches of the night if anyone could post them, if not i will just call dan.
