I would love to talk to anyone who would even remember that there was any discussion or a vote.

I guess I should have looked closer, this is called a talk forum. Could someone let me know where the answer forum is located.

Why are you so reluctant to ask your own people first? Were they by chance one of the clubs who left early that day? Or worse, did they not attend at all? Like I said before, if you and your club were not represented you have no reason to complain and may not be entitled to a answer to your question either.

Hi Sportsfan I could not find anything in the minutes where it shows where this was discussed or even voted on showing ie yes votes vs no votes. The only thing I could find was where it showed the new weight classes. If you could so nice as to maybe cut n paste the portion from the meeting where it shows this being discussed and voted on I think this post will go away.

I will to explain to the best of my knowledge!

As was stated,

The Kids Executive Board reviewed (as they do every few years) the issue of historically sparsely filled weight classes at their meeting this fall. They voted to do away with a couple of weight classes. That vote had to be approved (like several actions taken by the executive committee) by the State Body (which is made up by a representative of each and every club).

My opinion (I am not the one to give a finite answer) on the issue is that it is set for this year. It can be reviewed next fall.

Now, purely my opinion ... I am sure that if I had a 12 year old that weighed 57-pounds, I would be a bit miffed over what the Executive Board and the State Body did!

However, if I can assure you, it was discussed at length. Over the years, there have been weight classes added and some removed. These are always the lightest and the heaviest.

Now playing Devils advocate ... if I have an 8 year old that weighs 180 #'s, should I complain because USAW Kansas Kids does not accommodate him? Or if I had a 12 year old that weighed 52 #'s should I also have an issue?

I have always been a bit concerned when a kid is a State medalist merely by "weight." Every year at State we give awards to a kid who did not win a match!

WAIT ... I know that this is not the fault of the kid! I know that they go to every practice and work just as hard as every one else.

But I do feel a little more sympathy for the upper weight kids who we have effectively eliminated from competition.

Should USA Wrestling-Kansas Kids accommodate "every" child regardless of weight or any other factor? To me, this would be a worthy discussion where we discuss a broader issue not just whether we are "being unfair" to the 12/60!

Ask your club directors how they voted first. I am not responsible for what does or does not appear in the minutes. So again, go ask your directors how they voted.

I will ask our people from our dist but as long as I pay for wrestling cards for my kids I have a right to complain or ask any damn thing I want on this TALK FORUM

Just like those who know have a right not to tell you! Those who were there know what happened. The real question is why do you and others not feel a responsibility to be represented at these meetings?

USAWKS 1 thanks for the information on how the decession was made. I agree that it can be unfair to both groups of kids.Sportsfan hope there are no hard feelings we all do what we think is right for our kids. Good luck this rest of this year.

I just got done read this post as the father who had a son that was in this wieght class iam very disappionted that they elminated this wieght class. i have a few question for thought? which is easier to cut weight or gain? cutting is easier every wrestler knows this. which child is in better health? how many kids at this weight compete national. how many from this weight have continued to wrestle. yes this topic has been discusseed extensively in the past which always stopped the elmination of this weight. what are we promting

Randy, Thank you for finally answering the question. All decisions to add or remove weight classes are made by the seven members of the Kids Executive Board. These changes are then voted on by all represented members of the State Body and either accepted or rejected as an entire package and not as individual issues. I can see where the meeting would last way too long if all of the issues were discussed by the entire State Body.

If someone would have explained this a week ago we could have saved some serious blood pressure points.

Thanks,
lin
