Don't know about picks (Don't want to jinx anyone,) but I am going to be cheering hardcore for Jake Deitchler, Henry Cejudo, and Ben Askren just to name a few. Heck, I am going to cheer for all of them. Pretty excited for Tuesday to come. I just love it when the Olympics roll in!

Did anyone notice during the opening ceremonies how many of the countries selected wrestlers as their flag bearers? A friend suggested that even small countries without Olympic pools for swimming, etc could still have a wrestler on their team and this might account for the high number of wrestler flag bearers. I may have to research. Just wondering if anyone else noticed this.

TC Dantlzer (wrestled at N. Illinois when Wayne Petterson assisted there) Coach Petterson has coached at FHSU and Neosho as the head coach.

Randi Miller (wretled for Neosho)

and

Florian Temengil (currently wrestles for Newman and is representing the Island of Palau) Here is his bio: http://www.nbcolympics.com/athletes/athlete=67361/bio/index.html

Is anyone else kind of frustrated with the rules for Greco? It seems as if it is coming down to the luck of the draw. I know that everyone has to wrestle with the same rules, but it seems as if every match comes down to the same thing. Handfight the first minute (don't open up too much)....make the draw....play defense....and win. I am not out here to make excuses, but just wondering if it is condusive to the best wrestler actually winning. I think that it brings more luck into the match to determine the outcome.

Go USA!!!

Wow what a great bout for Adam Wheeler. I had to supervise some kids who missed the bus to the west campus. So we watched NBC TV 27 Topeka. The match was exciting and we were all yelling USA USA USA and cheering for Adam Wheeler. A bronze medal for the Greco-Roman team. What is going to be great is Adam Wheeler will be going to his new career as a police officer in Colorado Springs. Maybe we could get him to come to Kansas and carry the USA flag at the Kansas Kids State Tournament. Back when I was on the state committee Coach Cairns and Coach Grater would always talk about how important it was to have an Opympian be a guest at our Kansas Kids State Tournament.
The rules to answer a previous post have been very fustrating for us coaches the past three years. I know when Jeff Vesta and Steve Andrus would come back from big meets it would seem that rules application was always an issue. I was at the Oklahoma Coaches Convention last month and Jerry Best a coach from Allen, Texas who has numerous Tulsa/Reno/Vegas champions. Spoke about not sending any of his kids to Fargo this summer because of the misapplication or changing of the rules. He was awesome on the wrestling mat with his folkstyle technique. But he sure caused some concern for me about sending athletes to Fargo. Oh well I am Happy we have a medal in Greco-Roman wrestling. I think the FreeStyle team will be ready to go and look forward to watch our American team compete. RMG

CEJUDO WILL WRESTLE FOR GOLD! Match will be late tonight.

What an awesome win in semis! Anybody else watch that match?

Why was NBC covering men's gymnastics on TV during Cejudo's match when no American was competing in the event???!!! That would have been great promo for wrestling! It was an active match, lot going on! It seems to me NBC has spent about 90% of their coverage on about 10% of the sports.

Cejudo in the finals. What a match in the semi's by Henry. If you did not get to watch the match tonight, watch it tomorrow morning at in between 9:00 and 12:00 tomorrow morning on MSNBC.

The finals will be on at 4:00 a.m. live or they will play them right after the preliminary rounds tomorrow morning. It is going to be an awesome final for Henry.

I know I will be up watching it live and I may not get any sleep tonight. I have worked out with Henry some and you cannot find a more deserving champion.

Good luck Henry!!!!!!!!

CEJUDO WINS GOLD! That first round win for him was huge, that guy was one of the top favorites, he came back to win one of the bronze medals.

Hopefully a great start for USA Freestyle! Tonight is Askren and Schwab. Watch starting at 8:30 p.m. on:
