From the IC Press-Citizen
The officials who know whether Mike Zadick is getting into the Olympic field weren't saying much Monday -- at least not officially -- after at least one spot apparently opened up in the tournament when Bulgarian Anatoly Guidia suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon.
I corresponded Monday with a few people connected to the Zadick camp -- some in Iowa City, some in other parts of the world -- and all were confident, some almost certain, the Iowa assistant coach will be wrestling Aug. 18 when the freestyle competition begins at 60 kg.
Of course, this is International wrestling we're talking about here, and things can change in an instant. The rules today could be different tomorrow. The alternate who thinks he's getting into the Olympic field now might be watching from the stands next week. All that being said, I suspect Zadick will get his chance to compete in Beijing after all.
