Jan 11, 18, 25 3:30 – 5:30
Feb 1, 8, 15, 22 3:30 – 5:30
Mar 1, 8, 15, 22 3:30 – 5:30

* Guest clinician will run the room form 4:00 – 5:30; room will be open at 3:30 to warm up and stretch. It is highly recommended that you show up on time so that no one is still “lacing up their shoes” when the clinic starts. Enter the wrestling room from the North parking lot through the marked doorway.

This clinic is intended to supplement your existing club practices. This intense group training is for serious kid wrestlers well beyond the novice level. Training sessions will be fast paced and lots of hard work. Wrestlers will learn and drill high percentage winning techniques and fundamentals from top-level coaches. Training sessions will include focused drilling, conditioning, and lots of hard wrestling.

This clinic is by invite only, so we can manage the number of wrestlers in the room with our available mat space. If you are interested and have not been sent an invitation, please email me the name, age, weight, USAWA card number, and club affiliation. Thank you.

Last year we had 60 wrestlers participate in our weekly Topeka clinics. About 50 of those made the majority of the sessions. Their hardwork paid off…38 were State qualifiers.

Of the 38 State qualifiers we had 3 State champions, 5 wrestlers placing 2nd, 3 wrestlers placing 3rd, 1 wrestler placing 4th, 3 wrestlers placing 5th, and 3 wrestlers placing 6th. The following clubs had kids participate last season; Emporia, Jackson Co, Jr. Viking, Junction City, Manhattan, Oskaloosa, Paola, Rossville, Silver Lake, Thunderbirds, Team Tigers, and Trailhands.

Travis, Eric and Dusty did a great job adding a little polish to the initial work product of these great clubs!

There were some absolute studs at this last year. The kids really new how to drill and work hard. We were very impressed with the talent from the above mentioned clubs, who obviously have some excellent coaches.

We are looking forward to coming back again this year. It will be a great 12 week program leading into state. Be prepared. We plan to work your tails off!

Travis was over last week and showed some excellent technique. All of the participants got a really good workout. We had all the makings of a good session...alot of sweat, a little blood, and even a few tears. We still have spots available. If interested please email your wrestler’s age/weight/experience and I will let you know how they fit in with our current group. Eric Akin is coming over this Sunday…so get on board and lace your shoes up tight! I like Eric’s quote, “steel sharpens steel".

We are starting as scheduled this week...I will open the room up at 3:30pm and Eric will take over by 4:00pm; clinic will finish up at 5:30pm.

A few schedule changes going forward...
February 1st; we will move our start time forward to 3:00pm to accomodate the Super Bowl schedule (Room will be open at 2:30pm).

February 8th; we will move our start time back to 5:30pm to accomodate those that want to wrestle at the T-bird tournament (Room will be open at 5:00pm).

February 22nd; we will move our start time back to 5:30pm to accomodate those that want to wrestle at the Jr. Viking tournament (Room will be open at 5:00pm).

We still have plenty of space. Don't miss out on this tremendous opportunity. We are looking forward to a challanging clinc lead by Eric Akin this week.

Call me if you have questions

Are the Jr Vikings having a tournament? I don't see it listed on the calendar...could just be missing it I guess.

Just wanted to say the practice tonight was a great end to a wrestling frenzy of a weekend. Kolton got worked over by some great kids.

Would just add that anyone looking for an extra boost or high intensity practice, to help prep your wrestlers for their run at state, should get with Mark. I think there are some openings left.

Practice today is on our normal schedule; room will open at 3:30 and clinic starts at 4:00pm.

Note to High School Wrestlers (JV and Freshman)...as you get released from your programs seriously consider signing up for this program. These clinicians are some of the best in the country and you can not go wrong getting some extra training by them.

Anyone know if there will still be the clinic tonight? I know Mark is busy with another tournament today and I wondered how many would be there if it was being held.
