I really think that we should seed the 4 regional champions and then set up the brackets according to that. Take 5a 125 this year both Plott 35-3 and Nitcher 46-0 are on the same side. This is a terrible deal for whoever is the loser of this semifinals because these two are by far the best in this bracket. I don't mean to make anyone feel bad but it is only the truth.

Just wondering what are some other views on this idea?

The four regional champions are seeded. They are each in their own quarter bracket, and the second man from that regional is on the other side. If one regional is stacked, they can have a re-match. In this 125 weight class, from just taking a quick look, you are right. I don't know 5A at all, but what you say seems to be true. It also seems that at HWY the four best kids MAY be meeting in the quarters. Once again, I don't know these kids well at all. Look at 189, last match. Another tough draw. Still, I think that the way it is done now is about the only way that it can be done. It would be almost impossible to seed every weight class fairly with out head to head. We have certainly been down the seeding on record only theory on another thread. This is why it is so important to seed regionals correctly, then expect it all to be thrown out with an upset or two. I don't really have an answer. I am not a big Al Davis or Oakland Raiders fan, but he said it best. "Just win, baby!"

Because regional placings ARE state seedings. The state tournament is unlike any other tournament in the state as it is the only tournament that you must qualify for to enter. You cannot punish a second or third place wrestler by seeding them lower at the state tournament. From what I understand regional pairings at state are a blind draw. Sometimes you do end up with the two best on the same side of the bracket, that's just how it is.

I don't know if any system is perfect but I do know to be the Champion you have to beat the second best kid in your bracket no matter if it the finals, semifinals, or even in the quarter finals

Agreed! This is the one tournament each year when I don't worry about the bracket. It is what it is and you wrestle through it.
