psycologoically ,it has to take all you ve got to fend off a challenge for 2nd,it has to be a character builder more than I can imagine....BUT,,,,,, its kinda like an old Jerry Clower coon huntin story I once heard that I refer to quite often in life...it goes something like this,a city sleeker and a couple of country boys coon huntin with their dogs tree a coon, one of the country boys climbs the tree to knock the coon out to 10 or 12 dogs waiting below to tear the coon to shreads.......after the intailing fight and out come, the country boy climbs down...to which the city sleeker replies, dont you think that was a little bit of an over match, the coon dint have a chance,to which the country boy replies.....nope.........not at all,the coon had the option of whoopin all those dogs and walkin off if he wanted to...............so youve always got the option,it just kinda comes down to intestinal fortitude........or character...what ever you wish to call it...... the few challenges for 2nd that Ive been involed with have been about 50/50,but they re tough.....

A few questions, will team scores be kept? Awards given out if they do? Can you enter more than one kid per weight? If so how many are you allowed?

No team scores. The more in the weight the merrier! There will be NO team limitations. This is an open invitation to ALL Kansas residents who are enrolled in the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade and who will NOT be turning 16 during the calendar year 2010

I think this qualifying tournament is a great idea. Just wondering, even though middle school duals were just wrestled, does anyone know where they will be held next year? Also, am wondering about the cost,(rough idea). Know that some of the cost may depend on next year's tournament location. Also know that my son may not qualify, but it's never too early to start planning. Thanks.

The theme for the 2010 Middle School National Duals for our Kansas teams will be "Ancient Warriors"

Gladiators
Barbarians
Trojans
Spartans

Those will be the four team names. BlueChip is working on the T-shirt, short, and singlet designs.

Proceeds from the MS State tournament will be split with the host club. Those proceeds plus the $2000 budgeted to Middle School Duals by the USAWKS Kids Executive Board will be used to offset costs. I hope this will lower the cost to participate to $200 per wrestler or less. Last year it was $275.

Will,

As stated earlier, I think this is a great idea. The kids love the dual team concept and I think this will help identify the top kids.

Having said that, if there is enough interest for a 5th or 6th team are we going to keep those options available? I know in the past you have taken all comers and I absolutely applaud that.

Some kids from our club have told me that the Middle School duals were the best experience they have had. I hope that we can keep the options open to increase the participation and not use the tournament to limit participation for the duals.

Thanks.

Shawn Budke

Great Idea Will,
You can beat Lane will be there to wrestle for the top spot. He sure was looking forward to the national duels last year. His foot has healed just fine, and he's ready to go.

Now that we are a couple of months into the season it is time to start speculating about these brackets. If you know of some competitors start listing them or emailing their credentials to ksmsranker@gmail.com.

Will,

We would be willing to provide a Satellite Weigh In at the Pittsburg South Sub District.

The Danville date is the same as Kids State here in Kansas according to the calendar.

I assume Team Kansas will be attending the national duals in Indianola. From what I heard everyone had a blast. Will these teams be part of the group attending the Ohio TOC dual? Now that would be a pretty neat experience too!!
