U.S. Army MO-KAN Classic All Star Senior Wrestling Dual Press Release First Annual U.S. Army MO-KAN Classic All Star Senior Wrestling Dual to be held at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 7:30 pm.
The meet features senior wrestlers from Southeast Kansas and Southwest Missouri and promises to be an exciting evening for area wrestling fans.
U.S. Army MO-KAN Classic All Star Senior Wrestling Dual admission price is $5, and tickets may be purchased the evening of the event. Packing the house with fans from both Missouri and Kansas is likely to be the result of this initial match-up according to organizers. It should be an enjoyable, first-time event in this area for wrestling enthusiasts and a chance to cheer for one’s home state team.
The Missouri - Kansas border competition will match-up 32 wrestlers in the following weight divisions: • 112 lbs. - Three-time Kansas state qualifier and fifth-place state finisher, Codie Dean (39-11), from Valley Center High School, will go head-to-head with Missourian Blake Mullin from Seneca High School. • 112 lbs. – Two-time Missouri state champion, Joe Barnes (43-7), from Neosho High School will meet two-time Kansas state qualifier and 2010 runner up, Denzell Davis (33-8), from Fort Scott High School. • 119 lbs. – Justin Sharp (40-11), a two-time Kansas state qualifier and fifth-place finisher faces off with Billy Hesik (35-7) from Reed Springs High School who is a three-time Missouri state qualifier with a fifth-place finish in 2010. • 119 lbs. – Eric Hughes (41-2) from Bolivar High School, who holds two second-place finishes and one third-place finish at the Missouri state competition, will wrestle Zac Sparr (33-2) from Rose Hill High School. Zac completed his Kansas high school wrestling career with two third-place finishes, one second-place finish, and a 2010 championship. • 125 lbs. – Garrett Jones (36-3) from Arkansas City High School has been successful at Kansas state competition with two second-place finishes and one first-place finish. Meeting Garrett on the mat will be Nathan Fortner (45-7) from Seneca High School who is a four-time state placer with medals at second, third, fourth, and fifth place. • 130 lbs. – Nixa High School senior Sam Evans (35-13) faces off with Kash Biddle (35-5) from Arkansas City High School. Kash has placed four times at the Kansas state competition by bringing home two fourth-place honors, one second-place finish, and one championship. • 135 lbs. – Nick Hockett (38-5) is a two-time state qualifier with a third-place state finish from Cherryvale High School. Nick’s opponent is Missouri state qualifier and two-time place winner at sixth and fourth, Josh Mullin (34-10) from Seneca High School. • 135 lbs. – Eric Mateo (42-6) from Waynesville High School, who qualified for state competition twice and recently achieved the distinction of champion at the Missouri State Wresting Tourney, will meet Chase Nitcher (44-1) from Valley Center High School in the second 135 lb. match-up of the dual meet. Chase is a Kansas four-time placer in state competition with a third-place, a second-place, and two first-place finishes. • 140 lbs. – Winfield High School senior, Vance Oliver (30-5) competed all four years at the state level with two second-place finishes. His “Show Me State” opponent is Dillian Webb (38-7) from Seneca High School. Dillian’s record includes the following: state qualifier, and two-time state placer with a fifth-place and second-place finish. • 145 lbs. - Zeb Spicer (38-7) is an Ozark High School senior grappler. His competition will be Cody Shavlik (31-3) from Derby High School. Cody competed four times at the KSHSAA Wrestling Tournament medaling three times with second, third, and fourth finishes. • 152 lbs. – Valley Center High School senior, Cade Blair (45-0), has three state championships to his honor. His opponent is Willard High School’s Taylor Ball (30-5) who is a three-time Missouri state competitor with two fifth-place finishes to his credit. • 160 lbs. - Josh Moffett (45-8) from Bolivar High School qualified four-times for the state wresting tournament medaling at fourth-place and fifth-place. Josh’s Kansas opposer is John Hambleton (40-1) from Labette County High School in Altamont, KS. Josh competed four times at the high school state wresting tournament with two championships to his name. • 171 lbs. – Benny Armstrong (23-3) from Andale High School placed four times in the Kansas state competition with two second-place finishes, one third-place finish, and one fourth-place finish. Squaring-off with Benny is Tim Allen (32-11) from Ozark High School. Tim is a two-time Missouri state qualifier. • 189 lbs. - Levi Maggard (39-7) from Carl Junction High School is a two-time state qualifier with one third-place finish. Levi’s rival for this match-up is El Dorado High School’s, Dylon Walker (36-0). Dylon competed at the state wrestling tournament twice finishing with a fifth-place and a first-place in 2010. • 215 lbs. – Kyle Caylor (34-1) is from Wichita Northwest High School. Competing four times as the state level resulted with one second-place finish and three championships. Kyle and his opponent, Joel Wyman (43-2), will meet in the 215 battle. Joel is a senior at Willard High School who has qualified three times at the state level. His finishes include one sixth-place and one second-place in 2010. • 285 lbs. – George McKinney (38-7) is a senior at Neosho High School. His wresting honors include two trips to the Missouri state competition with a third-place finish. He is matched up with Columbus High School’s senior, Tank Burns (33-3). Tank qualified three times for state competition resulting in one championship and one third-place finish.

Watching the streaming right now so I'm not 100% sure if I have the teams right. I think KS is in the blue singlets and MO is in the red.
