Amen to that. I don't see how Cade could make 135! If he did make it, he would be as weak as a 1 day old kitten.

lakemats,
I dont see this as strange i know my son wrestled subs and is wrestling districts hs division but not state in order at attend the sophmore nationals.
our reason for doing this is because subs in a requirement in kansas in order to be able to wrestle folkstyle nationals in iowa plus it will help him stay match ready for virginia.
might possibly be the reason floyd and rice are wrestling subs and districts.

i find it strange because these are qualifing tourneys. i understand the extra mat time but in wrestling these qualifing tourneys you're going to leave bye's in the state tourney. and leave some kids home that would love to compete. it's really a requirment for kids to wrestle subs to compete @ folk nationals? just subs, not districts? or state? again, strange?

I believe Mr. Antillon was 1-1-NP-6.

If kids wrestle in subs or district, place then chose to not compete at the next tournament, the 5th place person would move up, etc, etc. There would not be a bye at state unless there is less than 4 people that want to go.

I am generously setting the over under/line at 3 All Americans for Kansas this year, but I am hoping for more.

As far as team score goes, Kansas is usually one of the front runners at this meet. The heavily populated states have an advantage, but we run with them pretty good. We are almost always one of the best of the less populated states.

This year is the first year for FLONATIONALS which will be held in Ohio on the same weekend. I haven't seen a list of entries but it will no doubt impact Virginia Beach. I know Friedly from MO is going to FLO and not many from Missouri got to VA Beach. PA's and OH's studs generally don't attend the VA Beach event either. I haven't seen either of the ALtons, Kindig, Dziewa, Steiber, Jamie Clark, or Peppelman pop up on the entry list yet. Below is the Intermat 100, top 100 seniors in the country. I would like to see how many of them enter. It would be a good statistic to know.

The FloNationals entries are available on their website. They definately have went right at the NHSCA's throat on this one. I am also interested in how it all shakes out with the top kids. It will undoubtedly water things down a little. FLO is trying to play the "BEST of all classes card" where the NHSCA divides up the classes. (Fr,So,Jr,Sr)
FLO was going to be by invitation only and only the winners of the prestigious tournaments or the top 32 ranked wrestlers in the country were to be allowed. Now it looks as if anyone can enter.
The NHSCA's requirements seem much stricter for the senior tournament which is one of the fascinating things about the NHSCA Senior Nationals.
Everyone avoids the week of the Division 1 nationals although that would be a much better week for us to attend one of these tournaments as many teachers and kids would not have to miss 4-5 days of school. Although I realize, in order for the top Coaches to attend/recruit it must be after the DI's.

Flo is just seeding top 24 in each weight or 32 and then having a qualifying tournament to make it into day 2 of the Flonationals. Place in the top 8 it then goes to a 32 or 40 man bracket. Also the event will be in a location on day then move to the Beast of the East Location on Day 2.
