Coach Jimmy May at Baker University in Baldwin City is opening his wrestling room on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 at Mabee Gym (top floor of Memorial Hall.) He says any wrestler is welcome. No cost. Just an open gym with wrestling mats with Coach May keeping an eye on everyone. He asked me to get the word out to everybody.

I am here right now and there is about 25 or so wrestlers working out.

Jimmy May told me about it too. Jimmy May did tell me that he wants the workouts to be for experienced junior high school and older wrestlers. So if you are a junior high age, who wrestles in USAW KS Open division, high school or college wrestler you are welcome to come workout. This is a good opportunity for anyone who wants to get some good off season workouts at no cost.

I watched another open gym at Baker tonight. It looked like the number of wrestlers doubled. I have to give a hats off to a lot of the Baker wrestlers who grabbed a Jr High or High School wrestler and took them under their wing letting them run their technique on them, and then correcting the younger wrestlers as they went along. You are definitely role models to these kids and we thank you!

In combat sports, I've found the hardest part is walking into the door of a workout. But everyone started out just as you did, and there will always be those who help you come along.

Again, thanks Coach May for the open gym and the wrestlers who help the younger guys along.

I echo what Bronson said. Great room, lots of physical studs in the room, good nonstop action, and my son had a great workout. Coach is definitely a great guy. I can see that program of his making some serious noise in the future.
