Pratt Community College is pleased to announce the recruitment and commitment of two more fine wrestlers.

From Norton, KS: Landon Keiswetter (160)

In his career with the Bluejays, Landon took 6th as a freshman, was a state qualifier as a sophomore, 1st in state at 152 as a junior and this year as well at 160. He is a tough wrestler who is used to overcoming adversity. A dislocated kneecap a week before Regional Wrestling almost sidelined his senior season. Landon persevered and took home the state title at 160.

From Augusta, KS: Nick Collins (145)

Nick did not enter high school with a list of youth wrestling accomplishments under his belt. Yet hard work and determination enabled him to make incremental progress toward his goal of a state title. Nick was a state qualifier as a freshman and sophomore. Between his sophomore and junior year, he put on 15 pounds and became one of 4A’s elite, winning 4th at state at 145. His senior season was capped with his 1st place finish at state.

Pratt is proud to add these two outstanding Kansas wrestlers to their roster!

There is no doubt Landon is very tough, but it was not Landon that suffered the dislocated knee cap the week before the regional tournament; that was his older brother Kaenon. . .who went on to be the 321A state champ at 145 in 2010.

Greg,
Thank you for the correction. I apologize to Landon as well as his family for the incorrect information. I guess I need to check my sources a little closer. Doesn't diminish the excitement that Landon's commitment to PCC has generated. He is an outstanding wrestler and we know he will do fantastic things both on and off the mat.

Actually it appears that Kaenon was the 2010 321A State Champion at 145.

As initially reported by Stacey, Landon was indeed along with his brother a State Champion in 2010. Landon was State Champion in 2010 at 152 and he followed that up this year with another State Championship in 2011 at 160.

That had to be exciting for the Keiswetter family to have two state champions in 2010. Congratulations to both of the brothers on their accomplishments and congratulations to Pratt Community College in signing Landon.

Husker Fan, you are correct in regards to Kaenon's weight class in 2010; it was 145 and I have corrected the post I made which was made to correct the other post. . .

Chase Sanchez of Emporia, Kan., has signed a letter of intent to wrestle at Bethany College for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Sanchez comes to Bethany from Emporia High School where he was a four-year varsity wrestler. He placed third at the state meets in 2009 and 2010 and was the class 5A state champion in 2011.

Head Wrestling Coach Jacob Marrs says, "Chase and I both wrestled for Coach Charbonneau which should pay dividends down the road. He is tough on the mat, and we hope that is something our whole team reflects. We have confidence in Chase."

Sanchez is the son of Vincent and Lisa Sanchez and plans to major in elementary education.

Chase Sanchez, congratulations on your high school wrestling accomplishments. Best of luck with your wrestling and academics next year at Bethany College.

Well, I am not sure but I do know there are several Kansas colleges where he could do both (Baker University, Fort Hays State, Bethany, Benedictine, and probably most of the junior college programs).

Baker University had an All American, Levi Calhoun, at the 20111 NAIA Wrestling Nationals who also played football all four years at Baker. Levi wrestled at Baker his last two years which were the first two years of Baker's wrestling program.

This was posted on the College Forum and I think it is something that we all should consider sending a contribution to. This young student is trying to keep the KSU Club team going. It would be a good thing to support.

Quote:
Hello Kansas wrestling community. I am posting to inform you on a fundraiser that the Kansas State University Wrestling Club is putting on. On Wednesday, April 27 we will be hosting a fundraiser at Buffalo Wild Wings on Moro Street in Aggieville between the hours of 4 and 10pm. Buffalo Wild Wings has graciously told us they will donate a percentage of the nights total sales to our club. We are raising money so many of us former Kansas high school wrestlers can continue competing at a collegiate level.

While I know that many of you reading this are most likely not able to drive all the way to Manhattan, KS to eat some wings, we would like to encourage anyone within the area to come out and support student athletes who wish continue competing in a sport they love.

For those unable to attend but still wish to help out we do accept and greatly appreciate donations. Depending on how much money we raise directly correlates to the amount of competitions we will be able to attend next year. If you wish to donate as oppose to comming to eat wings you can contact me at camadcox@ksu.edu and I will give you information on how to donate to the club.

Thank you,
Cameron Adcox
KSU Wrestling Club President
