How many former head or assistant coaches out there are now Administrators like an Athletic Director, VP, Principal or Superintendent (man long day in the field, almost spelled Super Nintendo).

Bob Warkentine and Curtis Simons (Sal South and Emporia) I believe have gone on and are doing something at an admin level. Anybody know where they popped up at?

Bob Warkentine was the principal at Solomon High School during the 2009-2010 school. Mr. Warkentine is currently listed on the Solomon High School website as principal; Welcome to Solomon High School however Mr. Warkentine is not listed in the 2010-2011 KSDE Directory.

Correct you are Richard. My knowledge of Kansas Geography dissipates rapidly the further east and south of Salina I get.

Bob Warkentine is the Asst. Principal at Pittsburg High School:

". . . (Pittsburg High School Principal) Bishop’s new right hand man also is no stranger to high school administration. Bob Warkentine took on the job after retiring from a five-year stint as principal at Solomon High School/Middle School. He previously served as principal in several capacities for at-risk youth in Salina, and was a teacher there and at Goddard High School before that. . ." Pittsburg Morning Sun; August 19, 2010

I'll be looking to join the administrative ranks next school year. I left coaching 5 years ago to spend more time with the family and this admin thing may be worse.

Jason,

As you know, since we finished our Masters together at the same time I would have to agree! At this point in my life, in a day in age where parents have forgotten they are parents and choose to let the schools parent instead (Not all but quite a few) the administrator thing is way over-rated. No chance will I be using my administrator degree any time soon! Good luck to you! Drop by and watch the Falcons this winter!
