Jared Johnson @ 140 deserves recognition. 4A SQ, Kids State Runner Up, Free Style and Greco State Placer. Wrestles year-round and will be a contender in February.

Johnson lost to mertins of valley center and sharpe of Ft Scott at the 4A State Tourney. they were the 5th and 6th place finishers in the 4A 2010 State Tourney.

Didn't Johnson lose to Kevin Taylor this weekend at St. Marys by a score of 11 to 9?

Currently, I have Johnson at #7 in my rankings behind Taylor and ahead of Kyle Rice who just dropped out of the rankings to 8th. Those three should make for an interesting regional bracket at Silver Lake.

Add Hurla who is #1 ranked to that regional and I wouldn't like the match up that faces our regional first round.

Is Van Der Linden moving up to 130#. Anyone?

At this point Vander Linden is planning on staying at 130, which is what his older brother told me this past weekend.

Kordell Burch from Douglass will be at 112. Was not able to certify at 103.

Wuthnow 152# is a freshman. Wow, its hard to believe you lose 3-1 with the #1 kid, then beat the #2 kid with nearfall criteria and barely crack the top six.

In my rankings Wuthnow is 6th because he lost to Hewitt of Beloit in a dual during December. Also, Mark Smith dropped out of the rankings because of the loss. I think his current spot in my rankings is correct based on his body of work compared to the other 5 wrestlers ranked ahead of him.

I understand where ur comin from, but it depends on the wrestler. I know of two well known freshmen that won close matches the first of the year, and all the sudden they are ranked in the top 3. There are politics involved. As for being ranked 2 then getting beat, then falling out of the rankings, seems a little extreme. The only way to figure that is he was ranked to high to begin with. Favoritism should be left out, done strictly by criteria. And please don't tell me that it isn't happening.

3awrestling, I think you are allowing these rankings, which are just one persons opinion, to carry too much weight. I don't always agree with the individuals they have at every weight and every ranking, and so be it. I do enjoy the rankings and I appreciate the work that is put into the rankings. It will all come out in the wash in Febraury in Hays, so until then I encourage you to take the rankings for what they are.................only an opinion.
