Will we be posting actual weights on track wrestling to make sure everyone is within the allowed weight limits?

What do you mean by "we"? When did you ever assist with weigh-in at a sub-district or district tournament?

I mean WE as an entire state!
Not just one district doing things one way and another district doing things another way.

Your right Richard I have never worked a weigh in but I have helped work tables.
If you are in need of people then I would gladly give my time as would many other "WE's" on this forum or in this state.

And on a personal note:
This sport would have a lot more "WE's" if people like "YOU" didn't cut everyone off at the knees when they have a question.
This sport will not continue to grow without the influx and education of new and unknowledgable parents.
And it will take people like you to help educate them. But less and less people will be willing to step up and take on new roles or assist with the duties if people like you are not willing to assist them in a friendlier way.
You need to learn to play well with others! The attitude is getting a little old!

I think it is a great idea. However, if you are doing because you don't trust people to weigh correctly. It is no different for them to enter them incorrectly as well.

That's not the reason!
Last year we had kids wrestling 285 that only weighed 220 pounds.
According to the rules you can not have more then a 35 pound weight difference in the HS level. That is why they added the 250 pound class. Last year some kids almost didn't Get to wrestle due to this rule/issue.
It was thought that some districts may have just entered the weight class and therefore this rule was unable to be enforced.
It was enforced at some and not at others.
I know these kids are used to HS weighing 235 and wrestling 285.
But at the kids state you have to with in (not your weight class) but the acceptable weight varience!

Richard, for YOU to say this is ridiculous. Not everyone on here understands your personal issues with BLT. This does not help promote this forum or the larger goal of wrestling.

I didn't know/understand that I had personal issues with Richard!
I didn't take it personally, I just thought it was the same typical attude that he always gives!
When it comes to wrestling and the rules I know he's knowledgable and passionate. But he doesn't need to treat people in the way that he has grown a reputation for.
As a member of the state board and a modertor on this forum if you can't do it with tact then maybe someone else is more suited for the position.
But it would be a shame to lose all that knowledge and passion that you bring to the table.
So lighten up man it was a simple and important (at least to me) question!

You also have similar issues with the other age groups and HWT's. Lower weight wrestlers going up a weight group but still outside the weight allowance. If your going to wrestle 12U 240, you have to weight at least 215+lbs in order to be in that group. If you weigh less then you need to be in the 215lb group. Pretty simple, but there will be some that will want to wrestle up a weight group. Only time will tell if this enforced or not.

As BLT points out, if the weigh in's are done in a singlet only (no wearing shoes, sweats, etc..) and posting actual weight. You will be able to see wether or not the wrestler is eligible to be in that group or if they by criteria are to light to be in the group. In my view as it has in the past, you can't wrestle up in weight at state anymore than you can wrestle down in weight.

11 & 12:
64, 68, 72, 76, 80, 84, 88, 92, 96, 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 130, 140, 150, 165, 190, 215, 240

13 & 14:
75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 150, 155, 160, 165, 175, 205, 235, 265

High School:
98, 105, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, 250, 285


These are the weight classes determined by the State Body Meeting, November 1995, and modified September 1999, October 2007 and October 2010. Age classifications were changed November 1996 and October 2009 (High School Division).

Also, if your wrestler exceeds the maximum allowed weight in their age divison they now have the option to wrestle up one age division (Section III, Article II, Paragraph 13, rule 4-4-1). This is the only exception allowed for wrestling out of your age division.

A goal of the State tournament committee this year is to run all of the subdistrict and district qualifiers consistently. This means consistent rules and consistent enforcement of the rules. We are making efforts to insure that registrations, seeding criteria, seeding meetings, weigh in times & procedures, tournament operations, and athlete advancement through the series is managed and enforced the same no matter where you are wrestling and in accordance with our established bylaws. The short answer is to your question is....YES.

It is really going to hamstring District 1 if they can only advance 4 wrestlers, in an age and weight group, to the state tournament!

Really SF02 ... you are referencing an incident that is over a decade old ... I had a wife like you once, luckily she is an x!

The practice of “filling” of District brackets with 5th/6th place subdistrict qualifiers, where applicable, is an issue the State tournament committee has discussed. The four district directors were asked for their opinion at the January 2011 board meeting. The feedback obtained was three districts have currently been using the procedure and none of the four District directors objected to making that the consistent practice this year. The final decision by the State tournament committee was that all four districts will allow the practice this year. This practice is in compliance with the bylaws; nothing was being done inappropriately in the past....the decision by the State tournament committee will simply allow for “consistent rules and consistent enforcement of the rules”.

It is true, that perhaps 15 years ago, D1 took 5 qualifiers on to the State tournament! Sometimes, uncomfortably tough decisions have to be made by people who are in charge!

It's easy to sit back and let others (like the Cadet Duals in Florida) make decisions! But I think it is truly unsportsmanlike to be ultra-critical of decisions made by our representatives ... and then never let things go!

So I got the official word here!
Each disrtrict will post actual weight and they will enforce the the weight variance rules.
So if you are say a HS kid and you weigh 213 pounds you must sign up for the 215 class. If you sign up for 250 and weigh in under 215 you will have to forfeit your matches.
So please make sure everyone gets signed up for the proper weight classes!
