If you didnt come to the tournament this year, you missed a good one!!!! Great competition, Great Bracketing, Good refs, and great hospitality room. Lots of kids and still got out of there at a descent time. Thank You to the Ottawa Mat Masters for a Great tournament.

Are you sure you were at the same tournament I was at? I had five sons there yesterday and we had more scratches then we had matches. One of my son's didn't get to wrestling until after 2:00 PM because of all the scratches. I don't know who in their right mind would run a tournament that had 600 + people register then put 5 man round robins and 8 man brakets together and not fix the scratches before they start wrestling. One word would fix the whole problem TRACKWRESTLING. For those of you that have not been to a tournement now that the kinks are out of track you are missing out. Johnson County ran 950+ kids through with Novice and open brackets on the same day, and the only scratches were from injury or those that left early. After weighins you have to do something to fix those brackets that don't work. Which only take a few people a couple of minutes on a computer. My kids go to tournaments to wrestle not sit around all day then get their hands raised because the directors refuse to join the computer age. Ottawa has too good of people that work hard to let there pride, or ignorance of computerised brackting git in the way of what could have been a great day of wrestling.

Track wrestling won't solve that problem if the TD is not willing to combine or fix the bracket due to scratches.

Without knowing what went on I can't really comment other than I don't have to have a computer to run my tournament or scratches kids.

I do think there is a lot with TW that is making it more favorable to run, but it doesn't fix everything automatically.

Has anybody been to a track wrestling tournamrnt that the wrestleing started before the brackets were ALL posted. Or did not start on time because of changes. I can tell you that I have liked satalite weigh ins as well as anybody, but from the amount of kids that I saw running this weekend there will be alot of kids changeing weight classes from subs on!

I had two sons wrestling and both were put into 5 man brackets. With all the scratches they BOTH only ended up with one other wrestler in their bracket. Both of them wrestled the same kid best two out of three and went home. A little disappointed because there was another bracket of the same weight class with with 5 in it. I don't understand why they couldn't have put them in an 8 man bracket. At least we could have wrestled some different kids. On the good side we were out of there fairly early.

I can't say enough good things about how we were treated at this tournament. After driving 70 miles and getting a motel room we went to weigh in an found out that our club forgot to send in our entry. Even though we had to wait until after the weigh ins the next morning, because of full brackets in our weight class they was able to get us in because of a scratch. It was a great day of wrestling and great competion. Thank You to the Ottawa club for helping us out. We will be back next year and I will for sure double check to make sure my entry was sent in.

I agree it is time for every tournament, every week to use a computer program like Track Wrestling. All the records would be tracked and the computer could determine who is A,B, or C. I have learned that Parents LIE on the ranking just their kid can get in a beginner/novice bracket. A third year wrestler who wins a good deal of his matches should not be seeded as a novice/beginner. Take the power out of the hands of the parents who consistently will LIE or CHEAT for their kid.

Most individuals lie more for weight than level. In my experience. I do agree that all tourneys should use same style. The smaller tourneys outside of the big cities don't always get counted in the rankings.

Does anyone know how the boy from Wellsville (neck injury) is doing? And also the young man with the hurt arm? They both were on mat 8 and had to be carted out by paramedics in back to back matches. Myself and a couple other coaches that are EMT/Medics were able to help the lone Medic that was there on call and I would like to hear how those tough kids are doing! Thanks.
