The network that hosts our server was the target of a large scale website defacing attack on Sunday evening, the 25th. The defacement worked by replacing index files in all public_html directories with the attacker's index.php. According to our web host, it does not appear to be any more malicious than taking over the web site's home page, but they are still reviewing servers at this time.
I was not aware of the problem until this morning when I received notice from the web host. I've restored a backup copy of the corrupted files and the site should be working correctly now. Let me know if you continue to experience any problems.
By the way, we maintain both secure and unsecure versions of our website. The secure site (
https://www.usawks.com - note the "s" in "https") was unaffected by the hack. If you want to change your link to the secure site, it might help you avoid problems in the (hopefully unlikely) event that we should be hacked again in the future.
