Does anyone know for sure what year the FIRST Kids State Tournament was held? We are thinking prior to 1978.

Not sure about 1st but I think 1978 State was at Ft Hays State, and 1977 it was at Wichita State.

Leanna, you might want to cross-post this question to the high school forum. Chances are more likely someone over there will know.

I am pretty sure the first official kids state was in 1974, in Manhattan. Ben Bennett was the state director and organizer.

1975 and 1976 were in Wichita, if I remember correctly.
