I don’t know how the next 4 to 5 years will play out for Alex as he moves on to the next phase of his life but I do know how extremely grateful I am for the last 11 years that his mother and I have had the opportunity to watch him wrestle. He has been extremely fortunate to have many wonderful influences in his life. Many of you I have had the chance to Thank in private and many I have not. I want to take this opportunity to wear my heart on my sleeve and Thank You in public.
Joe Ayala (Thank you for carrying on my dad’s dream and managing WWC for 25 years and giving Alex a start), Coach Boo Dryden, Coach Dan Gentzler, Coach Charlie Knox, Will Cokeley, Coach Jeff Watkins, Coach Kenny Taylor Jr., Coach Gaylon Taylor, Coach Terry Alley and Coach Chris Saferite.
When you look at this list of wrestlers that Alex has butted heads with frequently over the last 11 years you’ll see how lucky he was to be challenged at every little tournament we entered: Luke Lee, Ky Biddle, Ryne Cokeley, Colton Eck, Erin Munsch, Bryce Fortune, Colby Watters, Symon Seaton, Tyson Schmidtberger, Daniel Deshazer, Colton Duhr, Skyler McComb, Tyler Engels, Taylor Moeder, Jake Kazimir, Channing Hosey, Dylan Penka, Ulysses DeShazer and finally Tyler McMichael who Alex first wrestled just over 10 years ago at the Wichita Classic. Tyler is a fierce competitor and a great young man, couldn’t think of anyone better to close it out with.
THANK YOU,
Lindon N. Bontz

That is one solid post. Alex has an incredible future ahead of him. When talking to college coaches, I've always referred to him as the toughest kid I know. With that kind of talent in his corner over all those years, how could he fail? Blessings to him at the next level!

I sat directly in front of the Andover Central contingency the entire 5A State Tournament and did my best to compete with their energy and enthusiasm expressed for their team. I was extremely impressed how Alex Bontz conducted himself before, during and after his matches. The first thing you notice is his physical presence (on first impression). What remains in your mind is the way he takes the mat, wrestles with incredible strength and technique, and respectively and quietly leaves the mat. I heard someone say, "He just wrestles, no flash, no theatrics, just work. That's what makes him great.". Congratulations to Alex, he will have a great college career.

Bontz is all business. I am glad that I got to see him wrestle a couple of times this year.
