Just wondering at the state tournament, what is the way the first round goes. Does District 2 have District 1, or how does it go this year.

I was thinking 2vs3 and 1vs4 but that is going off a memory that can't be trusted.

That is correct. Click on state chmp on the bottom left and it shows the matchup for this year.

I understand the first round pairing but how does each District fall on a 16 man bracket?

That is a secret for the most part, they have some sort of method but it is kind of random.

Even if it sounds horrible if they let out exactly where people would fall, there would be dodger from one district trying to get on a certain side. I have seen this happen in the last 2 years so it does happen.

The only thin is for sure is that every qtr will have a 1-4 in it and what district will face each other first round.

D1-4
D4-1

Bottom Half
D3-1
D2-4

D1-3

D1-2
D4-3

D3-4
D2-1

I am wrong again, I didn't think they let the format out.

Tracy/Bruce are both "half" right. The 2nd and 3rd place finisher placement on the bracket isn't revealed until after the District tournaments.

Top Half
D1-1
D4-4

D?-2
D?-3

D?-2
D?-3

D1-4
D4-1

Bottom Half
D3-1
D2-4

D?-3
D?-2

D?-2
D?-3

D3-4
D2-1

The state flyer has the district match ups on it, D1 vs D4 and D2 vs D3. It's not hard to figure out from there if you know how to seed a 16 man bracket.

In the end it all works out, Just Wrestle!!

Bruce,

They hold back releasing the 2/3's to avoid kids (or their parents) from taking an inj def in the finals at Districts to get a more favorably perceived pairing in the State bracket. It's always been that way.

Mark based on your bracket above we can assume that D2&3 (#2&3) are in the top half because we all know that you can have a finals with kids from the same district. Now the slotting of those may be random.
