Being a Trojan alum would like to see a club and school team. I will help anyway I can to get this done.
ReDPloyd I will try and get you a sign the next time I go down to visit family in Girard.
I appreciate it. I don't really need the sign, but I always thought it would be cool to have. I did a little research on Girard, Kansas a few years back. Long story short, I don't know if I am related to Stephen Girard or not, but I would like to be since he was one of the wealthiest Americans back in the day.
Stephen Girard (May 20, 1750 – December 26, 1831) was a French-born, naturalized American, philanthropist and banker. He personally saved the U.S. government from financial collapse during the War of 1812, and became one of the wealthiest men in America, estimated to have been the fourth richest American of all time, based on the ratio of his fortune to contemporary GDP.[2] Childless, he devoted much of his fortune to philanthropy, particularly the education and welfare of orphans. His legacy is still felt in his adopted home of Philadelphia.
Stephen was not the reason that Girard, Kansas has its name. It was a hunter from Girard, PA that came to Kansas and gave it the name.
