We are 70 days away from my favorite wrestling event of the year!

On March 15th-18th, we will travel to Denver, CO to defend our team title at the Rocky Mountain Nationals!

The final All-Class rankings will determine the order of the invitations.

Last year was a blast! Many of our wrestlers got 10 matches over the weekend against fantastic competition. We had a great time enjoying the Denver night life over St. Patrick's Day while representing Kansas Wrestling! We brought home a 6 foot team trophy and many 4 foot individual trophies.

Once again, I will take two full teams to compete in the Team Duals on Friday with at least 4 matches and then the two day huge bracket competition starts. There were several college coaches in attendance and many multiple state champions from as far as Alaska and Hawaii! Lifetime memories and friendships are formed on this trip.

Best wishes to ALL Kansas wrestlers as the chase for the 2013 title continues!

- Chief

I know PJ is good, but did he also get a clone?

Just kidding, Eric. I do appreciate your efforts in this and wanted to point out the duplicate entry at 113.

Maki to 132?

Q. Harrison to 126?

Are these projected weights for rest of season?

Becker should be no less than #3 hands down, maybe even #2 at 152. I have no reason to believe he couldn't beat Thibault although I know Thibault is real solid. But until I see something that proves otherwise, Becker is #2 by my assessment. Gehring is a good kid and he is on a roll for sure but he certainly hasn't proven he could beat Becker. Gehring didn't even place last year, although he did the year before I know. Becker is the defending runner-up to Dustin Williams and was third the year before. He is still undefeated. Ogden may even be #4 behind Becker or Thibault. That kid is tough as nails and is very dangerous and difficult to deal with. Yes Watkins is good and he placed third last year but so did Ogden but at a higher weight losing only to Blackwell. Ogden would definitely give everyone "fits" this year in that weight except maybe Blackwell and he is undefeated as well. I would probably even have Jack Mitchell and Matt Pratt over a couple of those guys and maybe even Lawson Fiss. And keep in mind that my son has wrestled all of these kids or had them in a bracket. I have seen them all wrestle, many times. I can definitely compare. Of course I know that things are not always as they seem, perhaps even to me. No not really, I am pretty sure about this.
Also I know that he started off a little slow but I still believe that Manhattan Matthews should be on the list somewhere at 145. He seems to be coming back to form and won his last tournament.
Other than that, looks great Chief as usual. Keep up the great work!

X, it has been a few years, but I have seen both wrestle, Alex T. is appropriately ranked. The only knock on Alex is he was out last year. But, I wish he would wrestle on the summer teams. 4A does look tough at 152 and if we combined 321A and 6A, like Will recommended, it would settle the question.

Hey Double J. I hear you. Alex T. is real good as I said but so is Becker and I have no evidence that leads me to predict that Alex T. would beat Becker. My comment pretty much indicated I believed they were close but my personal opinion was Becker was #2 but as long as he was no less than #3 that was cool. Of course you are going to lean to Alex T. because he beat Jared two years ago. But that Jared has improved tons since then and no way would lose to Alex T. now if they were at the same weight. Becker has improved a lot too over the last two years and I believe he has improved more than Alex T. who as you stated was out last year. Too bad we probably won't ever know unless they both win out and wrestle in the All-Star dual at years end but it will probably be Blackwell instead of course and Thibault will miss out. They are real close I think. I wouldn't be surprised either way with the outcome. I wish them both the best.

Yes 4A looks tougher over all at 152 but like I said , don't be surprised if Ogden wins it. Best wishes to he and Gehring both and Watkins.

I am usually right Double J. about these things because I never make predictions about kids unless my son has wrestled them or they were in a bracket or at a tournament or something really close so I have watched them all wrestle lots from kids up to now with focus on most recent high school analysis. I have lots to analyze and compare with which to come up with my high accuracy predictions.

Just look at how Hurtado beat Edwards, as I predicted and told Chief, to gain the finals birth at Newton against Humphrey and Matthews beat Kennedy and Suhr, as I predicted and told Chief, to gain the finals birth at Newton against Eastman. Now both will move to their appropriate spots in the rankings as I predicted. Of course Edwards and Kennedy both will get their rematches at regional or state and things could go the other way. I could be wrong though about Maki over Dickman as Dickman beasted to the finals of the Bobcat. It appears he is much improved but I still lean to Maki. My man Leach in the finals of Bobcat against Mies looks very tasty. Of course you know who I will be rooting for and predicting to win as he was a team mate of my sons. Sure don't want to wish anything bad on any kids though and won't just to satisfy a selfish desire to always be right. I am OK being wrong every once in a while as I am human, but not too often. I wish them all the best.

Again, my son has wrestled all of these kids except Thibault. So no one should be disappointed, offended or surprised when I am right. I don't have a crystal ball, a wizard or a magic info elf. I make predictions about stuff I know a lot about. I don't just make predictions to make predictions. I don't make predictions about things unless I know what I am talking about because I want to have the highest probability possible of being right.

Everyone have a great day! Best wishes to Jared. And thanks Chief for your efforts. I sincerely appreciate it.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but no one really knows who would win unless they wrestled. I personally know alex and have coached against becker. Alex has a work ethic second to none and would welcome the opportunity i believe to wrestle becker. I don't think it holds any merit for someone to say alex can't defeat someone. He certainly doesn't think that way.

No of course not Triple A. sorry for the confusion. It did sound like I was saying that didn't it. I was really talking about and comparing everyone else other than Blackwell.

Rail...91 sorry if I was putting a kid in a bad spot...but you got to give X something to comment on and then you can just sit back and enjoy his logic, even though sometimes he is a 'bit' confused. LOL

And, X, I am not saying Jared would beat Alex, our best bet was to outgrow him, but thanks for the kind comments.

No problem John. Disagreement is sometimes healthy but not always logical. All these boys are great kids maybe the chief needs to have a all class final 4 like deal on top of the colorado wrestling trip so they can settle it on the mat. I am half joking.

10-4 Railroaders91, you are so correct.
Now I kind of wish I had never brought it up. I certainly wasn't trying to call anyone out or insult anyone at 152 which I probably did. And not just Alex T. but maybe Gehring, etc. It was really more about just trying to say that I thought Becker was being underestimated, and I had good reason to believe that. It looks like I too though have been guilty of underestimating someone and that is one Denton from JC. Just remember to anyone though that is mentioned, it's a compliment because you wouldn't even be in the discussion unless you were already bona fide. And I am never saying that one kid could or couldn't beat another. I am just making predictions.

Thanks as always Double J., but I am rarely if ever confused. Now sometimes I am just wrong, but that is only because my subjects have performed contrary to what is predicted based on the data that I have which is very accurate and not biased.
And you are right and everyone else remember that if it weren't for the rankings or your comments, there wouldn't be any contradiction and/or controversy from X.

And I know you weren't saying that Jared could beat Alex T. but I was saying that and I was saying that Becker could as well. But I am really just predicting that they could I guess. But I know that is not fair to Alex T. so once again, I wish I had never brought it up but I did. And it is really Chief's fault, LOL. But keep up the great work Chief and thanks!
