Here's a preview of the Andover Central regional, with a list of the favorites to advance from each weight. Seeding will be announced tomorrow, so these rankings are strictly mine.

Teams: Andover, Andover Central, Ark City, Bishop Carroll, Goddard, Goddard-Eisenhower, Kapaun Mt. Carmel, Wichita West

106
1. Logan Terrill, Ark, 25-9, 3rd All-Class, 1st 5-A
2. Andrew Egan, KMC, 30-7, 4th 5-A
3. Dakota Rodd, AC, 27-11, 6th 5-A
4. Konor Dugan, BC, 18-14
Terrill has wins over Egan and Rodd so he's the clear favorite. I don't expect any surprises here.

113
1. Joey Defore, Ark, 23-13, 2nd 5-A
2. Parker Howell, KMC, 6-3, 5th 5-A
3. Griffin Bossingham, And, 27-11
4. Sam Roy, BC, 17-14
It's great to see Howell back, if he's close to 100% first place could be a great battle. Central's Dylan Kepler is a close 5th, with a head-to-head loss to Roy.

120
1. Zac Gentzler, AC, 35-0, 1st AC, 1st 5-A
2. Dakota Leach, Gd, 28-3, 4th AC, 3rd 5-A
3. Marcus Phillips, WW, 19-1, 6th 5-A
4. Bryant Suellentrop, BC, 19-5, 5th 5-A
This has to be one of the toughest brackets in the state. Phillips and Suellentrop have really come on, and Ark City's Marco Perez could also be a huge factor.

126
1. Dalton Dietrich, Ark, 25-12, 5th 5-A
2. Jacob Mills, KMC, 31-10
3. Ben Lightfoot, AC, 25-11, 6th 5-A
4. Jay Pacha, BC, 16-11
Dietrich has beaten everyone on this list, so he's the clear favorite, but Mills and Lightfoot could make it interesting.

132
1. Lucas Maki, And, 23-1, 3rd AC, 2nd 5-A
2. Patrick Burrus, KMC, 37-5, 6th 5-A
3. Kendall Biddle, Ark, 25-17
4. Luke Weber, BC, 17-16
A potential Maki-Burrus final could be classic, as I'm sure these two have wrestled each other hundreds of times in practice. Weber made the list because of a head-to-head win over Biddle, but I have a feeling Central's Nic Augustin will grab the 4th spot.

138
1. Joe Umscheid, AC, 31-5, 6th 5-A
2. Bryson Nuckles, Ark, 18-12
3. Luke Wilson, KMC, 17-8
4. Joel Sponsel, BC, 16-9
I don't expect any surprises here, as Umscheid, a senior, should qualify for state for the first time.

145
1. Cody Eastman, Ark, 31-3, 3rd AC, 1st 5-A
2. Paul Suhr, AC, 27-7, 4th 5-A
3. Christian Frame, Gd, 28-11
4. Devin Moore, BC, 25-11
Eann Ellingson is probably Eisenhower's best chance to land a qualifier, but he's got his work cut out for him.

152
1. Wyatt Villers, Ark, 30-3, 5th AC, 1st 5-A
2. Brett Woodruff, Gd, 27-11
3. Jared Brown, And, 19-15
4. Jay Page, AC, 20-19
Kapaun's Nick Nece (21-11) and Carroll's John Paul Sponsel (15-14) are also in the mix. I'd be shocked if Villers didn't win, but 2 through 6, this is as competitive as any weight. I placed Page 4th because of his head-to-head win over Woodruff just a couple of weeks ago (although he has lost to him twice, including the rematch in the last dual of the season). This one could be wild, and the seeding will go a long way to deciding it.

160
1. Jesse Oliver, WW, 26-8, 6th 5-A
2. Michael Helms, Ark, 24-10, 4th 5-A
3. Dakota Driskill, Gd, 25-12
4. Brandon Williams, KMC, 11-10
No head-to-heads among the top 3, so this one is a crapshoot.

170
1. Trevon Mitchell, WW, 27-7, 5th 5-A
2. Tom Hand, KMC, 32-13
3. Sean Marou, Gd, 19-9
4. Corbin Niemtschk, AC, 13-12
Carroll's Christopher Dugan (19-11) and Ark City's Bryson Teufel (20-19) are also in the mix. Again, it all comes down to the seeding. Niemtschk is the X-factor here, having finished 3rd at Rose Hill (pinning Derby's Santillion in the consolation final), followed up with a pin of Marou at the last dual.

182
1. Dalton Rodd, AC, 18-2, 3rd AC, 2nd 5-A
2. Nick Nolting, BC, 21-9
3. Nick Heiland, KMC, 35-8
4. Devin Bultman, Gd, 28-13
Nolting has head-to-head wins over Heiland and Bultman, but looking at the records, who knows what the real seeding will be.

195
1. Malcolm Pink, Ark, 26-12
2. Tommy Marquez, BC, 24-8
3. Ethan Harp, KMC, 26-17
4. Derek Honeywell, AC, 11-20
Not a very deep group, so it looks like someone will advance with a losing record. Honeywell has been wrestling well and could surprise some folks.

Keep in mind, Bultman has wrestled a lot at 195, so if this is where he ends up, he's definitely in the mix and that opens a spot at 182.

220
1. Dylan Cox, Ark, 30-7, 8th AC, 4th 5-A
2. Sam LaFleur, KMC, 28-14
3. Tyrell Saunders, WW, 12-8
4. AJ Scholfield, And, 14-10
I don't expect much suspense here.

285
1. Matt McGrew, Ark, 30-12, 5th 5-A
2. Porfirio Flores, WW, 12-9
3. Zach Befort, BC, 7-12
4. Carter Gragg, Gd, 9-15
After McGrew, this one is wide open.

Team-wise, Ark City, with 8 likely top seeds (and 11 prospective qualifiers), should have this wrapped up as soon as they get off the bus. Central (3-9), Carroll (0-10) and Kapaun (0-10) should have a fierce battle for 2nd, with West (2-5), Andover (1-4) and Goddard (0-7) fielding competitive teams as well.

I for one can't wait until Saturday. Good luck to all!

Any updates yet?

I'll update my own post:

As noted above, Ark City dominated, with 8 first place finishes and 14 qualifiers for the State tournament.
Looks like my Bulldogs have a good chance to win State... but there are a lot of good wrestlers out there waiting, too.

Onward to the Coliseum!
