I just want to give a shout out to Ben Ewing. As a sophomore he finished 41-1 at 220. This is an incredible accomplishment considering the majority of his competition are upper classmen. Ben worked hard this summer getting strong and went up quite a few weight classes from last year. He had a great football season and now capped it off with a fantastic wrestling season. I can't wait to watch this kid dominate for the next couple of years. Keep up the grind buddy you had a great year!

Really nice state title for a sophomore! Ben is a beast. Over 20 tech falls this year. 220 pound 16 yr olds built like that end up playing football on Sundays some day. I know that division one recruiters from both sports have all ready shown interest. Good job Ben! Looking forward to watching you after high school too!

There are not many in our state like Ben Ewing. What an awesome season that included beating Derek Morgan from Missouri who was 35-0 with 35 pins at the time! And to think we have TWO more years with this Kansas beast!

It is incredible for a sophomore to be this dominating in this weight class. Kansas has been blessed with some real good young heavier high school wrestlers in recent years like Nathan Butler, Will Geary, Duane Zlatnick, Atticus Disney, Kyle Caylor and Steve Andrus (I apologize if I did not mention some else). Still I think due to the strength difference it is difficult for a sophomore having to deal with the upper weights being dominated by juniors and seniors.

Now we can add Ben Ewing to that list of great young heavier Kansas high school wrestlers. Ben has the potential to be a great one at this level and in college. I was unaware of Ben's quality win over Derek Morgan from Missouri(Wow, Morgan had 35 wins all by pin prior to his match with Ben that record is amazing in itself!). Not many sophomore wrestlers could compete with someone like that. Ben Ewing, it is going to be fun watching your career progress. Congratulations and good luck going forward.
