For those who didn't vote on Will Geary, have you seen this guy wrestle??? He is one of just a few on this list that has been nationally ranked.

Dustin Williams was a Fargo finalist in 2012. There have been a little more than two handfuls of those in Kansas wrestling history.

Williams lost a close finals match in Greco at Fargo.

Was on the way for another AA and finals shot when he was injured in freestyle.

Another wrestler who did not give up a takedown this season.

One of the nicest kids to talk to but toughest to wrestle.

Williams is the only Fargo Finalist on this list. He also took 3rd at Folkstyle Nationals. He beat Miklus, a state champion from Iowa at Gardner. He beat Drew Daniels, a state champion from MO who is 39-2 and in the Metro Classic.

I got to see Williams wrestle at Newton. The kid is nails. As Cokely said Will Geary is an animal. He wrestles like I imagine a bear would.

Wiegel is the animal , he chooses not to wrestle freestyle but don't hold that against him . THIS IS FOLKSTYLE NOT FREESTLE ! The freestyle rankings are coming soon .

Tommyboy,
You are correct Preston is a beast. From what I have heard he may be doing some wrestling this off season.

Oh Man, why did you blow your cover Tommyboy? I can't believe you did that.
Anybody that's worth their weight knows who Tommyboy is anyway. The rest don't matter. But thanks for being "Politically Correct" I suppose.

Ditto to that Tommyboy. That is exactly why Dustin Reed should be really high on the list. How can you argue with his accomplishments? Four time finalist, three time champion, over 150 wins. Additionally he placed at Virginia last year as was mentioned so he has proven himself on the bigger stage, just not the stage that "freestylers" think he should have to prove himself on. I went with Lincoln to kids state ten times and Reed was there every year. I think he placed like eleven times, plus he won it several times especially the last two years in the high school division. He is definitely bona fide.
I also believe that Cody Eastman deserves big props as he is a four time high school medalist who won it this year. He also placed every time he went to kids state and won it like three or four times. And I believe he is the last Kansas wrestler to beat B. Humphrey in folkstyle. Talk about nails tough, you are talking about Eastman.
I agree that freestyle helps make wrestlers better, any wrestling will do that, but I do not agree that you have to wrestle freestyle to be better, unless you want to be successful internationally. The history book is chalked full of DI AA and champions that never freestyled and littered with freestyle AA that never achieved DI AA status.

Brogan beat cody in Sudden victory in semi-finals of Newton TOC last year. Just a question did cody also beat him? Was not aware that they had wrestled twice. On a different subject Dustin Reed is strong as a bull and technically sound and he definitely in the discussion for super 7. We threw an excellent newton wrestler against him for years with limited success.I wish him the best of luck at newman next year. And lastly i definitely agree with Tommyboy that weigel is top notch and not wrestling in summer should not be held against him. What a team this all class team should be.

This is exactly why Eastman should be in any discussion of Kansas best especially when Brogan is involved. Yes Cody beat him but it was at Kid's state in the finals. However, that is still a bona fide win over one of Kansas best and as I said, I believe that was the last loss in folkstyle to a Kansas wrestler that Humphrey had.

I have enjoyed watching this list develop and it is nice to know we have no shortage of wrestlers that are qualified to be on this list. I hope that all of them have success in all of the endeavors they face going forward.

Cool Chief, thanks for the info. And thanks for the poll Wrestler02, great idea.
I guess we can just call it the top ten and there should be no "complaints". As King Crossface stated, we have a lot of great wrestlers in Kansas and we have a lot to be proud of.
