This tournament is a USAW Kansas sanctioned tournament and follows rules as set forth by USAW Kansas Kids. The tournament is a qualifier for the AAU Tournament and when the USAW Kansas subsidized team travels to the Middle School Duals the team will comply with the AAU weigh-in rules. If the tournament was not a USAW Kansas sanctioned event, if USA Wrestling membership was not required to participate in the event and finally if USAW Kansas Kids was not subsidizing the Middle School Dual trip, following the rules for sanctioned tournaments would not be a requirement.

Sanction this sanction that. We know. Our question is WHAT time do we have to weigh in. They obviously have to make weight in Iowa, so is a couple hours earlier gonna hurt anything? 7:00-8:00am Saturday, wait till 10:00 you are forcing kids to go up a weight, due to holding it for subs and overnight. Doesn't seem right to me. They pull for Nationals, but don't have to make weight 2 days in a row. If they don't make weight in Iowa, thought that was the reason for alternates.

The weigh-in at Lindsborg Sunday morning is from 07:00 to 07:30 A.M.. I can not speak for the other Districts however in District II the weigh-in will be after 09:00 A.M. as the priority of the host club(s) is operating the Sub-district qualifying tournament(s). The satellite weigh-in option for the Middle School Championship Tournament is provided as a benefit, and the Sub-district host club, when placing their bid to host the qualifying tournament, was not told of a future requirement to host a satellite weigh-in for a tournament they are not directly involved with. Again, the satellite weigh-in option is a benefit offered by the host club and there will be announcements made the morning of the tournament announcing the weigh-in time.

I will check with the host clubs and ask if 10:00 A.M. will be convenient for the weigh-in.

Crazy crazy crazy. Follow all the USAW rules at every tournament for the benefit of what, insurance ??? The insurance is a complete and total joke never pay anything and have stupid rules that restrict wrestlers from progressing in the sport. Kansas kids are tough and getting tougher but imagine what they could do without the dumb rules. Im not worried though cause were going back to pa and get some training in. A state where if your willing able and want to ppractice you can and there is no punishment for pushing yourself. Thats my rant

Wouldn't it be easier for everyone to use sub district weigh in weights.. Friday, Saturday when ever. I just think it would be easier and there's no need for the 24 hour rule enforcement. Especially when the purpose is to qualify for duals nearly a month away. But do to lack of responses from the powers that are running this it seems we are just complaining to vent...

But this does not change the fact the flier said one time and others are saying different so WHAT TIME ARE THE WEIGH INS GONNA HAPPEN MAN

If you insist on having the two separate weigh-ins (subs and 10 AM qualifier). Next year all Districts need to wrestle 14U in the PM. Gives kids a chance to rehydrate. Then we can complain about kids traveling home late and getting up early for Sunday wrestling.

Somebody get a hold of James Cook or Will Cokely and figure this mess out. All districts need to be on the same page, on WHAT TIME ARE WEIGH INS. They coordinate this thing and no response from either. Deadline drawing near.

Will's in China I don't think you'll have much luck getting a hold of him. He's not even going to be at the tournament.

Chiming in from Shanghai...

I talked to James earlier. Richard seems to think that this change was needed. We have been using the same weigh in time for four years and it hasn't been a problem. I understand where he is coming from but if he had a problem with it he should have waited until next year to voice his opinion instead of the week before the tournament. We have published the flyers and arrangements have been made. USAWKS has NEVER raised and issue with our weigh in being 24.5 to 25 hours before the tournament.

James has the last say on this and I will support his decision but I think Richard has manhandled this...

At the Middle School Dual weigh-in held last year in District II we did comply with the twenty-four (24) hour weigh-in rule.

Richard is one of those strange people who believes if we have a rule the rule should be followed.

We asked Mike Juby four years ago if it was appropriate to make this exception due to the need NOT to disrupt the subdistrict tournament. District II is ALWAYS doing things their own way... If I am the director of the tournament I am trying to standardize and make things make sense for the participants. What is compromised in this case Richard???

Why is it so difficult for a tournament which bills itself as The Middle School State Championship to follow the rules for sanctioned tournaments?

What is compromised in this case Will???

District II will comply with the rules for sanctioned tournaments and will hold a satellite weigh-in at 10:00 A.M..

Again, allow me to remind you it is a benefit and not a requirement for the Sub-district host club to provide the manpower for this satellite weigh-in.

This issue was discussed briefly at our District II seeding meeting and there was no objection raised to the 10:00 A.M. time.

I do not recall District II ever being accused of not following the rules for sanctioned tournaments, so I am unsure what is meant by your statement that "District II is ALWAYS doing things their own way..."

Seems to me this tournament should have been held last weekend.

What is weird is that these same kids are having to make that weight in April, if you are cutting for this weekend, April will suck.

We moved up a weight just due to that fact that I know we would have trouble in another month or so.

Yes, unless I am told otherwise by the Executive Director. You may weigh-in at either the North or South Sub-district.
