2nd Lt Justin Lee Sisson, formerly of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Monday June 3, 2013, from injuries sustained while serving his country in Afghanistan.
Blue Valley West Graduate – Co Captain of his Wrestling Team, 2 time state qualifier, he was an avid baseball player.
Sisson was assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), as an assistant operations officer. He joined the Army in May 2012 after graduating from Florida State University.
Sisson’s awards include one Bronze Star Medal (posthumous), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Sapper Badge.
Sisson is survived by his parents, Kevin B. Sisson and Phyllis M. Sisson, both of Phoenix, Ariz
A visitation will be from 6:30-8pm Friday June 14, 2013 at the United Methodist Church of the Resurection, Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Evenue, Leawood, KS 66224. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday June 15, 2013 also at the church. Interment will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetary.
