A friend of mine was talking to me about the new proposal to add 8 more teams to 6A and 5A, and take 16 teams away from 4A..

I understand the format here in Kansas allows kids to see successful results (Which is fine), but I really don't understand the point of this proposal, so maybe someone can help me understand why this would be the new breakup?

This is just a thought, why not combine 6A and 5A and leave the rest as is..making 3 classes instead of 4, and while we're at it, have the state tournament at 1 venue. But as I've read on this forum time and time again, Kansas doesn't do wrestling like everyone else. And don't get me wrong, I'm not dogging the state, I've grown to love the wrestling here. Just some thoughts, any help help on this??

I can help you with the venue question. We don't have a venue big enough to handle all classes (as currently divided), without adding an extra day to the tournament. The best we could do (with the current 4 classes), is divide it between two venues. That is what I would like to see, two classes together at two different venues. Maybe every couple of years you could rotate the classes as to which wrestles where and with what other class.

Here is anther Idea.

We combine 123A with 4a and 5a and 6a together to make 2 classifications, You have 32 man brackets at state with 8 regional tournaments per new classification. Teams would not have to travel as far for regionals.

how about eliminating 4A all together? The state split the stupid class up for football anyways. Move the lower class of 4A to 321 and bump the upper class to 5A. Then bump the upper 5A to 6A. That would be the only way it can work without moving the tournament to the Spirit Center in Kansas City. Intrust Bank Arena is a no go. State tried it a few years ago and the arena charged them outrageous rates.
