NCAA DI Championships No. 1 Seeds 125: Alan Waters (Missouri) 133: Chris Dardanes (Minnesota) 141: Logan Stieber (Ohio State) 149: Drake Houdashelt (Missouri) 157: Isaiah Martinez (Illinois) 165: Alex Dieringer (Oklahoma State) 174: Robert Kokesh (Nebraska) 184: Gabe Dean (Cornell) 197: J’den Cox (Missouri) 285: Nick Gwiazdowski (North Carolina State)
The committee thinks there are 16 guys that are better than the 2-time defending champ at 125!! I know he has been hurt and lost a few matches, but come on!!!! That's a joke!
I think Delgado's only losses were to Waters (1 Seed) and Tomasello (4 Seed) and a forfeit in the 3rd and 4th place match at Big 10's. The NCAA quarter finals at 125 on paper could be a tough draw for both Water's and Delgado. We will have to see what wounded lions can over take the healthy ones next week. Peters and Cox will not be a breeze for Delgado either.

Delgado ended up in an ok place on the bracket, but he could have been drawn into the 32 spot! How dumb would the committee have looked then?? I expect Will to comment any minute and compare this fiasco to the Bobcat!!!

Since there are more than a few head scratching seeds(or lack thereof) this year, Flow interviewed Jason Borelli (Stanford) who is on the committee and he did a really good job explaining the process. The glaring issue with the methodology being used is that who you lose to does not matter. While quality wins matter, a bad loss has no bearing on seeding. When it comes to seeding, losing to #50 is no different than losing to #1.
Former Chanute resident Cody Pack from South Dakota State loses a heartbreaker 10-9 against Lou Mascola from Maryland.
Pack was up 7-3 going into the 3rd with riding point locked up. He got taken down midway through the final period and gave up 2NF points.
Then he was cut by Mascola with the score tied 8-8 and Pack having a riding point coming his way. Mascola takes a last second shot on the edge of the mat. Refs don't make a call and go to the review and call a takedown even though Pack had a wizzer locked in.
Hopefully Pack can come through the back and All-American after being upset as a #5 seed.
