I am going to use the talk forums to some extent this season to get general messages out to clubs and members.

If you have questions you can send a message to me through the forum or email me at kathyjuby@usawks.com

Whether you are a club leader, or an individual it is your responsibility to see that background checks are done before you request a coaches card. If you are not sure email me and I can help with that.

It is imperative that you have confirmation before you request a card!!

Please be patient this week as I process not only all the paperwork turned in at the state body meeting but the daily mail as well.

I will do my best to get everything entered in a timely fashion.

A reminder. Do not submit a request for a coaches card until you have confirmation of his/her background check. This goes for clubs and individuals.

If you are not sure email me. I'd much rather answer emails than deal with USA Wrestling when a coaches card is rejected for lack of background check.

I feel like I sound like a broken record. Please do your background checks before requesting a coaches card. The season has barely started and I already have 13 coaches that have been rejected as not having current background checks. This means they do not have a valid card and should not be coaching whether it is in practice or competition.

These coaches and the district directors have all been notified. Because we are so early in the season I have elected not to enforce the $20 per coach fee for submitting a request without a current background check. However, that will change soon.

Is there any way coaches can check to see if they need background checks or not? I know they should remember if they had one last year or not, but I have a few coaches with bad memories.

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I'll be taking some time off to spend with my family the next few days. I will check email as necessary. Hopefully tomorrow (Wednesday) I will finish the card requests that have come in. If you have questions do not hesitate to email me.

The spreadsheets that Kathy provides each club include the information on which coaches are current in their background check status.

We are off to a great start. I'm excited about the upcoming season and hope everyone else is as well. A couple of reminders
1. Do your background checks before requesting a coaches card.
2. Pay attention to the headings of the columns on the spreadsheet and enter information accordingly.
3. You have options as far as paying for cards requests.
A. Send a check
B. Pay via PayPal
C. Maintain a credit with the state office
As always do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions.

Kathy, I don't know,if you were in the room when it was discussed, but it became clear why the coaches are applying for coaches cards without a current background check. As unbelievable as it seems many do not understand that the background check is only good from September 1st till August 31st two years following, regardless of when they are applying for it. We had coaches say they applied for the card in December for example, and then a coaches card in September two years following. They think since they were issued the background check in say December, that it must still be good.
As so many club were not present at the state body meeting I would suggest some type of contact with all clubs to reinterate that, like competitors cards, background checks have a fiscal time period (two year instead of the one year), for which they are good.

Sorry. I just now saw your post. FYI: Clubs have been notified multiple times in different ways. On this forum, via emails from the state office and it is always posted on the website.

A reminder
1. Do your background check before you submit a request for a coaches card.
2. If you are questioning whether a coach is current it is noted on the spreadsheet.
3. You can email me for verification if necessary.
4. Fines are $20 per coach for lack of a current background check.
5. If a fine is imposed on a club all cards will be held until the fine is paid.
