Wrestling will be a little different as far as classes. Not for sure which schools co-op so that could make a difference but the way I read it 24 wrestling 3A schools will be pulled up to make 60 for 4A wrestling.

Wrestling
(Based upon 222 wrestling schools participating in 2016-17 school year.)
1. Class 6A = 36 schools
• 18 schools per Regional (2 Regional sites)
• Wrestle out to 8 places

2. Class 5A = 36 schools
• 18 schools per Regional
(2 Regional sites)
• Wrestle out to 8 places

3. Class 4A = 60 schools
• 15 schools per Regional
(4 Regional sites)
• Wrestle out to 4 places
• 8 individuals advance to the State Tournament per Regional

4. Class 3-2-1A = Remaining schools (90)
• 22-23 schools per Regional (4 Regional sites)
• Wrestle out to 4 places
• 4 individuals advance to the State Tournament per Regional

Do the numbers (36 6A, 36 5A, 60 4A, everyone else 321A) factor in schools that do not have wrestling?

its a 40%/60% split. I am also not sure how they are figuring. I tried to figure it, but I am pretty sure I did it wrong.

Once schools turn in their Will or Will Not participate forms to KSHSAA(which were already due) they will take the top 36 for 6A, next 36 for 5A, then 40% of all the rest will be 4A and the remaining 60% will be 3,2,1A. Based on last years 222 wrestling schools, it would leave 150 for 4,3,2,1. So 40% of that remaining 150 would be 60 schools in 4A, and 90 in 3,2,1A. Of course the number of wrestling schools will probably change this year, but this should be close.

Based upon 222 wrestling schools participating in 2016-17 school year you would have 36 in 6A, 36 in 5A which leaves 150 schools with wrestling then you take that times .40 and that gives you the 60 sixty schools for 4A. I am not for sure how many will have wrestling this year but you will subtract the 72 schools that would be in 6A and 5A then you take 40% out of that remaining number of schools for class 4A. Then rest of the schools would be 3A. At least this is how I understand everything.

If I am reading the KSHSAA information correctly with 60 schools being in class 4a, and removing the 3 schools that don't have wrestling these schools from the 3a list will be in 4a for wrestling.
These are the 24 largest schools in the 3a list that offer wrestling. 36 from 4a + 24 from 3a= 60 4a wrestling schools. But I could have it all wrong, this is how I read the information from KSHSAA.

This is coming from Mark Lentz -- KSHSAA does not yet know which schools will be fielding teams, so the exact number will not be set until teams start practices in November.

We know that 6A will have 36 schools and 5A will have 36 schools. 4A will have 40% of the remaining schools and 321A will have the remaining wrestling schools.

KSHSAA will determine the 4A & 321A split after alpha weigh-ins, is what I am understanding.
