Is this tournament being held today? Is it a delayed start or cancelled or what?

Thank you. I found it on track.
Junior varsity state? Hard for me to grasp. The best in the state not good enough for varsity?

Awesome way to help grow the sport - Yes JV State Tournament - keep those guys around to help fill Varsity teams down the road or in a few years. Having just 14 guys on varsity without practice partners and developing other young student athletes who may be late bloomers is a great idea. Heck of a good job to those coaches, administrators, refs, etc., who put in the extra work with those individuals.!

JV State (Sub Varsity) - WI Challenge Series

A lot of work and dedicated wrestling people across the state of Wisconsin have a very good model to help grow the sport at the "Sub Varsity" level. Basically it is an All Class state tournament - wrestlers qualify through 8 regions. 3 wrestlers qualify from each region into a 24 man bracket.
Their JV State ends in early February or late January. There is a set of criteria/rules on who is eligible to participate.

This year was the 5th Annual Challenge Series in WI.

I was only kidding when I called it JV state, but hats off to Burlington and crew, they run alot of tournaments and this JV tournament is usually the last one of the year and it seems like everyone has a team there, thus "JV State".

A lot of people out in Western Kansas call the Bill Voss JV Tourney in Colby “JV State.” Maybe we need to get together with Burlington to organize a “JV Grand State.” 😂

I like the way you think Coach Williams!! JV Grand State!!!

We have held our JV tourney for 26 years. Lots of other coaches have called it that for years. I fought the temptation, but I finally gave in this year!! Heck, it is the LAST J.V. Tourney they can wrestle in. Washburn Rural has won the mythical J.V. State Team Championship the past 2 years!

How many tournaments give All-American honors to wrestlers? Surely, we can both give All-State J.V. titles?

J.K. Just happy our J.V. tourney keeps lots of kids out until the end of the season and encourages them to come back the next year to their teams!! There is NOT enough J.V. competition out there for kids that work just as hard as their #1 teammates in many cases!

Our guys LOVE the Burlington JV State....we refer to it as the "JV Super Bowl." Since our varsity guys have that weekend off it's a great opportunity for us to put the focus 100% on our JV kids, telling our varsity guys that it's their job to prep the JVers for the Super Bowl. Gets our 2s and 3s excited!

The fact that girls are forced to wrestle at state in the middle of the week is laughably sexist.

I'm not sure how many Bill Voss Invites (JV States) Colby has had. I do know that I wrestled at "JV State" as a struggling 195 pound freshman heavyweight from Atwood in 1991. There were not many JV meets back then and I was our varsity heavyweight. Coach Woody made the decision to hold me out of a varsity tourney so I would be able to wrestle at JV State later in the year. It saved my wrestling career! It had been a long year and I was leaning toward basketball for the remainder of my high school career. JV State and getting to wrestle and beat other freshmen and sophomores after being beat on by seniors all year saved me from going to the Dark Side! This tourney still holds a special place in my heart!
