The American Wrestling League joins forces with Missouri Border Brawl to Support Randy Couture’s Xtreme Couture G.I. Foundation (www.xcgif.org).  On Sunday, March 17th, the Missouri Border Brawl: Battle for Missouri, will return with added fire power. For years, Missouri Border Brawl has been the signature post State Championship event in the state of Missouri. Featuring many of Missouri’s finest high school wrestlers, along with several bordering states’ top grapplers, this dual meet is one of the top all-star events in the nation.

This year’s Missouri Border Brawl has received two major boosts. The American Wrestling League has committed to bring several star athletes to this year’s event. In addition to the AWL, the event itself will take place at the historic Kansas City Union Station. “We are excited to work with the American Wrestling League as we continue to grow the Missouri Border Brawl,” said David Mirikitani, President of the Missouri Border Brawl. “We plan to put on a show like no other for the fans and there is no better place than Kansas City’s Union Station to do it.”Headlining the AWL bouts includes several former University of Missouri star wrestlers. Two time All American, Alan Waters, will take on 2018 World bronze medalist, Joe Colon. Waters, who wrestles for Titan Mercury Wrestling Club, placed 3rd and 4th for the Missouri Tigers at the NCAAs and has been a front runner on the senior level since 2015. Joe Colon was a college standout wrestler for the University of Northern Iowa who currently trains at Fresno State and wrestles for Titan Mercury. Colon had his breakthrough performance this past year after claiming bronze at the 2018 World Championships and capturing his first U.S. Open title in Las Vegas this past April.

In the co-main event, former Mizzou Tigers and NCAA finalists, Lavion Mayes and Joey Lavallee will go head to head in this AWL featured match. Mayes, who wrestles for the New York City RTC was a three time All American, capping off his celebrated career as a finalist in 2017. Lavallee was also a finalist in 2017 and now trains at Fresno State along with Joe Colon and also wrestles for Titan Mercury Wrestling Club. Dom Bradley has been recently added to the card and also OTC resident athletes Kamal Bey and Aaron Brooks.

World Champion J’den Cox will also join this year’s Missouri Border Brawl/AWL event. Fresh off winning his first World Championship, Cox will be doing a meet and greet and signing. The three time NCAA Champion of the University of Missouri is the most decorated wrestler in the university’s history. Cox served as a commentator for AWL I: The Beginning and is slotted to be part of the upcoming AWL season, launching this October. UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley has also committed to making an appearance to support the foundation and AWL.

The Missouri Border Brawl proceeds go to Xtreme Couture G.I. Foundation for the wounded veterans of the armed forces. Randy Couture will also be at the Missouri Border Brawl as the Master of Ceremonies for the night."The Missouri Border Brawl is one of my favorite events both personally and for the foundation. I love wrestling and raising funds for our veterans. This event allows us to promote them both. Please buy a ticket and support our cause. Thanks to the American Wrestling League for their partnership and support as we continue to grow our event.” - Randy Couture.
