How 'bouts this...

Last year KSU added a women's equestrian team...yet many great Kansas wrestlers can only show their skills in the annual intramural tourney.

(3X intramural champ...hollaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa)

Congrats, Aquinas!
Great job, Hat Town!

The equestrian team at ku is a competitive horse team. They do all sorts of obstacles on horseback and make their horses look pretty for the judges. Pretty lame a$$ stuff if u ask me.

I know a few peeps on the KU Rowing team and they tell me how hard it is and what not. And i still have come to the conclusion that it needs to be systematicalliy destroyed, eliminated and wrestling instituted in its place.

Dingbat-
How long ago did u go to KU? Also was ur competition pretty tough at the intramural meet? I am pretty excited about it and definitely am entering.

Dingbat was a 3x KSU intramural champ. Also, Bill's daughter is a horse rider. That is why they have a horse team.

KSU has the equestrian team and not KU.

We all have title iX to thank.

When I win the lottery (any day now) I am going to walk into the AD's office at K-State and ask how much it will cost to start a wrestling program, then I will proceed to write a check!

I don't think that would happen even if the money were donated. Ask some of the really old guys that are on here occasionally about wrestling at K-state. [Ron Tacha (Norton), Bill Kelller(St. Francis) Wayne Woofter(Colby) Leon Younger (Wakeeney)to name a few] they had a program with some NCAA all american guys and a
Coach hired that had been the Asst. at O-state.
Vince Gibson needed more money for a loser football team and the entire program was trashed. Now they have a winning football program and the general football mentality is that wrestling is not even a sport, just a pastime that ranks somewhere below disrespecting women in motel rooms. Forget about K-state.

I like the Really Old Guys comment, I'm sure they prefer to be called WISE MEN, as opposed to the Manhattan crew which might be dubbed the WISE GUYS!

I'm wondering why no one with the exception of Aaron recognizes the club at K-State. These guys have talent and need all of your support. They need money for a mat and equipment.

This is one thing you can concider is that if they were to get say $50000 a year from private investors they could give some scholarships and hire a coach. I know thats alot of money but if half of you spread the word you could find someone to provide this support.

No one is knocking the club JC, but that's what it is — a club. It's never going to have the visability that an NCAA D-I program has, and that's just the way it is. The clubs provide a great outlet for the sport, but in the wrestling community (nationally) they are viewed as little more than glorified intramurals. Kansas needs a D-I program and frankly I don't think K-State is the right avenue.

How about Wichita State? No football, nice facilities and competition within easy reach. Hmmm...

I recognize the club team because Harold Jagerson who was the coach at Chapman became there coach for a while maybe 2 seasons.

WSU would be a really great fit for wrestling. I never really considered what BRC brought up until just now. (see 2 posts above) with no football program, the ratio for title nine would be a
possible, and the location is really good for
recruiting both east and west within the state.
I do know they are quite into the baseball thing with their development money, but it would sure be great to see a wrestling program there.

Didn't the "Tig Ole Bitties" get second this year to the "Big Bodies"? Meaning the "Big Bodies" outscored the KSU club team this year then as well!

Alas, many of our ringers have graduated, and we lost to a superior team this year. Big ups to the Big Bodies. However, I would love to see a match between this year's Big Bodies and the Tig Ol' Bitties of 2001.

Congrats, Aquinas!
