I have heard of a product called PURE sanitizer that is sprayed on your wrestler and rubbed in, supposably killing 99.99% of bacteria, fungis and germs. Has anyone had any experience with this product or know where I can get some or something similar to help protect my boys after they get off the mat?

One thing I have observed in tourney after tourney....little boys hitting the bathroom in their mat shoes....(now during the first two hours of the tourney the bathrooms are nice and clean..but never have I seen them stay that way)..usally by the third hour..there is a floor covered with urine, toliet overflow, and sink splash...I have never seen any child sanitize the bottom of their shoes after utilizing the facilities...I make my 46lb er stand on my feet now...but that dosen't work for my 110lb er ..so I have tried asking him to pull his shoes off between matches ..well that results in lost shoe after lost shoe..so I don't know what the answer is..but I would love to see every tourney sanitize the mats after warmups and offer the kids and refs sanitzer for their shoes...espically during cold and flu season...

There is also a foam you can put on them before they wrestle to keep ringworm & such off your kids, our club has been using it this year and I dont believe we have had anyone with ringworm yet. For the life of me I cant think of the name.

Our club uses a product by a company called K2. I believe that is the name of it. It comes in a can and comes out looking like shaving cream. You then just rub it into the skin. We use this before practice and matches. So far, no problems at our club this year.

Carry antibacterial wipes in your bag to wipe the bottom of their shoes. The skin protector is good, but kind of costly. Purrell works just as good and is much cheaper. Also after the tourney have them wash with Dial and then Selsum Blue. J Cassaboom

Kenshield, a skin cream and long thorough hot showers with soap will protect against most stuff. Plus, you will probably catch most of the usual bad stuff (cold, flu, and other close contact nasties) in the stands between matches where there is a high concentration of people eat, coughing, and climbing over one another.

We have Crocs that slip on over our wrestlers shoes and the kids put them on over their shoes when they are off the mat. Works pretty good to keep them clean. I suppose you could apply a sanitizer to the Crocs and be in direct contact with the bottom of the shoes.

My daughter has a product that is in patent pending right now, she's waiting for a company to pick it up for manufacture. It's a lightwieght shoe cover that goes on and off quickly and easily and can be folded and pocketed or clipped to the clothes. She originally came up with the idea when she was in HS track. She thought it was ridiculas that everyone walked around on their heels to protect the track spikes. Her prototype has an insole that protects(pads) the spikes. She figured this would also work for wrestlers shoes. After a feild trial (she made several pairs and had her friends try them out and made a smaller pair for little brother's wrestling shoes), she sent in the paperwork for a patent. They are washable, so down the line, this might be a solution.
