Here's a quick summary of where our Junior team is at going into the second day of competition.
We have seven young men still alive in the event:
Zack Tanenbaum (130)
Brandon Charbonneau (135)
Taylor Moeder (135)
Ryne Cokeley (140)
Kyle Caylor (215)
Nick Pearch (215)
Beau Bennett (285)
Tanenbaum has four wins and one loss. There are 9 competitors remaining in his pool.
Charbonneau has five wins and no losses. There are 8 competitors remaining in his pool.
Moeder has five wins and no losses. There are 9 competitors remaining in his pool.
Cokeley has four wins and one loss. There are 9 competitors remaining in his pool.
Caylor has three wins and no losses. There are 13 competitors remaining in his pool.
Pearch has two wins and one loss. There are 17 competitors remaining in his pool.
Bennett has two wins and one loss. There are 12 competitors remaining in his pool.
We have two weights with more than one wrestler:130 (Charbonneau & Moeder) and 215 (Caylor & Pearch). In both weights the Kansas wrestlers are in separate pools.
This morning's session will be make or break for these seven!

Tanenbaum found Liberatore as tough as predicted ... he loses in 2 straight period.
Zach has the spirit of a wolverine so he will return!

Junior 135 Round 6 (Bout 1766 M 7) - Brandon Charbonneau (Kansas) vs. Drew Van Anrooy (Oregon)
Charby with the early takedown ... gains two more and two more again ... Brandon wins the period, 5-0!
Charby with the leg attack and scores ... again on the leg shot but doesn't finish ... Charby steps out under attack ... Charby is tilted for 2 and loses the period, 1-3.
In the 3rd, Charby is takendown and laced a couple of times to trail by 3 ... Charby gains one ... 47 seconds to go ... Charby monkey rolls for 2 ... his foe scissors for the caution and 2 ... Charby gets takendown and a hand-to-hand gut score another ... the score 5-5 but Charby wins!!

Junior 140 Round 6 (Bout 1773 M 7) - Sam Mecham (Oregon) vs. Ryne Cokeley (Kansas)
Ryne with the early 1 ... and another ... the TAG for 2 and for 2 again!!
In the second ... Ryne with the crotch lift for a 2+1 but the gives the reverse ... time expires ... Ryne wins!

Kyle comes back to tie this period at 1-1 ... injury time for Kyle ... Kyle gains the pushout ... times expires, nice win for Caylor over New York!

Junior 140 Round 7 (Bout 1874 M 1) - Ryne Cokeley (Kansas) vs. Matthew Cimato (Pennsylvania)
Ryne with the takedown and a 2-point gut ... Cimato reversed for 2 ... Ryne in on the leg but gets crotch lifted for 2 ... a roll occurred in which both wrestlers scored 2 ... period ends, 5-6.
Again a 2+2 with Ryne scoring last ... Cimato scores ... locks up the TAG for 2 and 2 ... Ryne scores 2 ... Ryne with the head pinch scores 2 but runs out of time ... Ryne loses his second bout.

If the New Jersey Kid that just beat "Brandon" wins or the Indiana Kid wins Lil Charby will be an All-American. If they both win he is assured a top 6 as he caught the bye this round. Kansas needs to become Indiana and New Jersey Fans for about 6 minutes
