Shawn,
If you are talking about Reese and Luke just say it. If not then drop it. There is no bias/frienship factored into the rankings but seeking the toughest competition no matter whether it is in state or out of state gets you better for the state tournament. You cannot setup your schedule to make sure that you get to wrestle some of the ranked guys. Rankings are about who, absent of imperical data, the ranker feels is the better wrestler or the one who would win. I have seen you state on several occasions that rankings mean nothing until they wrestle each other. Now you seem to be talking out of the other side of your mouth. I have nothing to do with the rankings and I am bias. Reese can beat all of the 106lbers in the state. Time will tell.

Just PM me Sean, if you don't want to say any specifics. I absolutely want the rankings to be as accurate as possible.

What has more value a 3-2 ot win against a good kid but not in the all class ranking or 2 convincing wins against the same wrestler ranked in all class, and another convincing shutout over an all class ranked wrestler and previous runner up in 6A and currently ranked 1st in 6A. What is the criteria to move from one weight 10th all class and jump to 2nd all class without meeting any of the guys this year in that group.

Many factors are considered (Not always in this order):

1. State bracket performance.
2. Performance at national folkstyle tournaments.
3. National FS/GR success.
4. Information from Coaches and Parents.
5. Competition that the wrestler has faced.

Reese had a head-to-head win at state over the #2 ranked Bryce Morgan. That's why I ranked him #2.

Gotcha. I haven't updated that yet. Callahan jumped Mason after he beat him at Eudora. That will change with this week's update.

Exactly how is this criteria? Has Henes beaten Taylor Smith this year? Has he beaten Reese Cokeley this year? Has he beaten anyone ranked above him this year? As I stated earlier, I have moved Luke up and am very impressed at his work this year!

Darn right he has beaten guys ranked above him - that is how he got moved up! Fortunately he has been at the right tournaments to
win those challanges and rose to the occassion.

Taylor Smith - not in your top ten.

Yes! Until there is current year criteria, the state bracket still weighs in. Every single seeding meeting has LAST YEAR'S State placing as criteria.

I thought your rankings were suppose to reflect who is wrestling the best at this time right now December 18, 2011 in a particular weight class and it should be not some thing that happened 9 months ago in a totally different season.

WITHOUT current year criteria, last year's state bracket is better than a coin flip.

Henes has beaten:

Star
Stone
Scott
Mueller

None of these wrestlers have criteria over Reese.

Both Morgan and Henes actually placed in their state tournament - that does have some criteria value. Forget it - if the shoe were on the other foot - I can see you working the little game.

Since the Emporia results haven't been recorded here, Dakota Leach soundly beat Trey Franka 5-2 in the finals of 106.
