To clarify, there is also a 13-14 age division (age as of the tournament date – July 14, 2012) where incoming high school freshman could choose to compete when their birthday makes them eligible. However, 13-14 points will not be scored for your team unless you enter the High School Division.

Where can you find a list of all the weight classes or will you group people by weight?

For this event we utilize Madison Style bracketing...bracket weight classes will be determined after weigh in using actual weights. Show up weigh in and we will group you with 3-5 kids of similar weight in your age group.

Registration dead line for SSG is July 6th. Please keep this event in mind when planning your summer competition schedule. The High School Division "Team" concept is a great way to get your team together for a day of summer time competition!

Registration for Sunflower State Games is due on July 6th. To qualify for the High School Division you must be a Frosh-Senior in the 2012/13 school year and you should register as part of your high school team in order for your team points to count appropriately. Those who don't qualify for this division should either wrestle in the 19-29 Open Division or the Collegiate Division.

Have a safe 4th!

For those of you that missed the online registration deadline, we have extended it until midnight tonight and we will allow a "last chance" registration "Friday Night" only during weigh in from 6-8pm. We will not add wrestlers on Saturday morning...that's too big of a headache. Our registration numbers are up again this year. We will wrestle on eight surfaces this year; that is three more than last year. We are once again looking forward to being your host for the day!

The High School division will be better than ever...don't miss out on this opportunity to get some live summer action!

Weigh in for SSG is from 6-8pm Friday night for both takedown and folkstyle divisions. Wrestlers participating in the takedown division must weigh in on Friday night or risk being scratched from the tournament. There will be an additional weigh in opportunity for those wrestlers competing ONLY in the folkstyle event from 6-7am on Saturday. Wrestling will start promptly at 8:30 for the takedown tourney.

At weigh in, you will be asked to verbally verify your birthday. We will not ask your to show us proof unless you age is challenged. We will also verify that you are entered into an appropriate division for your age. The High School is restricted to 2012/13 Frosh - Sen. If you do not qualify to wrestle High School then you will compete either in Colligate or 19-29 Divisions. All currant college wrestlers must wrestle in the colligate division. All others can choose to wrestle in the Colligate Division as UNA or may wrestle in the 19-29 OPEN Division. We will also need to verify that all High School and College wrestlers are entered under the correct school name.

Thank you for your participation!

Another great production by Seaman High School and the Jr Viking Wrestling Club. They followed up the Top City Wrestling League and SSG UNK Training Camp with an outstanding SSG Wrestling Tournament A record for entries, 2 tournaments finished by 4:30pm, and outstanding competition. I'm pretty disappointed in the local media coverage. Wrestling has to be one of the most participated in and attended events of the games and no news paper or TV coverage? I haven't seen the team standings for the High School and College divisions but it was cool to see some of the best in Kansas at the collegiate level. Romero Cotton live was as advertised. FHSU might have a super star on thier hands! Great job Seaman Vikings!

Thanks Tim...we are truly blessed in KS to have so many fine wrestlers. On a week where much of the attention could and should be focused on Fargo, we had a 25% increase in wrestlers participating in the Sunflower State Games. The Jr. Viking Wrestling Club and Seaman High School are honored to be able to be a part of this great festival of athletes and would like to thank Sunflower State Games for making it possible.

The High School Division was very competitive this year. It was laced with numerous state placers and a number of state champions. Due to an error that was reported to me in how a Win by FF was scored late in the day, I am not quite ready to announce the team champion. I will say that is was very competitive and there were several teams in the fight right up until the placement points were awarded. As soon as I get confirmation from both teams involved in the error mentioned (because it will affect the placement order) I make the appropriate corrections in trackwrestling and I will announce the team champion.

If you see any errors in the individual results that you would like me to research/correct please email those to me at jrvikingwrestling@gmail.com and I will work to get them corrected. Our volunteer table workers do their best, but to error is human, therefor all we can do is our best and we apologize for the errors we make.

Finally, I would like to say thank you to all of the athletes and volunteers who helped make this year’s games a success!

The SSG tourney was a great event, was very well-run. Good job Seaman wrestling group!

Also a good turnout overal. Seemed to be one of the highest numbers I remember in a long time.

As I said in my post yesterday and the team scores indicate, this year’s High School Division was very competitive. After brackets were adjusted for errors and points were tallied here are the final result.

T1. Emporia 65
T1. Blue Valley Southwest 65
3. Seaman 50
4. Washburn Rural 47.5
5. ACCHS 42.5
6. Royal Valley 39
7. Basehor Linwood 37
8. Eldorado 33.5
9. Sumner Academy 28
10. Chase County 27.5

Congrats to the 2012 SSG Team Co-Champions and thanks to all who participated. It was a very entertaining day!
