When I seen Hays High was 4a this year I was very surprised. I am not sure how they break them down anymore since there are 2 different 4a's.

For football it only happens every three years, I believe. It is only the fr, so, and jr classes totaled. Then: 6a - top 32 5a - next 32 4aA - next 32 4aB - next 32
For wrestling and other sports all four classes are counted.

Wouldn't Wichita West be the next one up to 6A? Maize the next one down to 5a?

I was told Tuesday that Hays High thinks they will be 5A for the winter and spring sports this year. I have no idea how reliable the source is, but it will be interesting to see how it turns out. Several people in SW Kansas think Holcomb will be 4A in winter and spring sports and Scott City will be 3A. Looking at the numbers, they might both be 4A??
The unofficial enrollment numbers in the GWAC are: Ulysses 486 Colby 285 Goodland 283 Holcomb 280 Hugoton 271 Scott City 263
Rick Williams Colby High School
