Tournament and Club Directors,

It would be great if you could encourage the members from your club running the upcoming tournaments in your area to consider donating $1 from each entry fee from your tournament to the Kansas College Wrestling Fund (KCWF) or add $1 to the gate or admissions (if you have an admission fee). The Johnson County Kids Classic held January 3, 2015 raised approximately $1,000 through the gate and additional $500 from donations for promotional materials - for the 11 Kansas college wrestling programs. Today’s college wrestlers are some of our future coaches. If you would like more information on the KCWF – feel free to contact me. Several clubs across the state have made contributions each year to the KCWF and I have received thank you letters from all the colleges for our support. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Sean McCarthy

On behalf of the Kansas College Wrestling Fund Committee - Thank You to all of those that stopped by the booth at the State Tournament this past weekend. If you are going to the State Freestyle/Greco tournament - we will have a booth set up there. Stop by and see how you can help the Kansas College wrestling programs. Thank you again and the programs around the state are listed below.

Sincerely,

Sean McCarthy
KCWF - Chairman

College opportunities for student/athlete wrestlers has doubled in Kansas in the last 11 years. Demand is high in the state - as is evident of the addition of six - 4 year college programs and the addition of 2 more community college programs in recent years. I am not sure if the Kansas Wrestling Community is bucking national trends - but Kansas and its colleges and universities has to be one of the front runners for adding the most wrestling programs and educational opportunities over the last decade.

* Baker University
* Barton Community College
* Benedictine College
* Bethany College
* Colby Community College
* Fort Hays State University
* Kansas Wesleyan University
* Labette Community College

Dear Friend of KCWF, April 28, 2015

The Kansas College Wrestling Fund was authorized and established by the USA Wrestling, Inc.-Kansas nearly four years ago in the summer of 2011. It is the mission of the KCWF to provide financial support for Kansas Colleges and universities with active college programs. In the past four years you have been a donor to this fund. Thank you for your past financial support!

Your donations have benefited the 11 Kansas colleges & universities. This number will grow to thirteen programs this year with the additions at Barton Community College and Kansas Wesleyan University. These wrestling programs have benefited many former Kansas youth and high school wrestlers in the past four years. This past year there were approximately 140 former Kansas youth and high school wrestlers on the eleven active Kansas colleges wrestling rosters.

There have been several Kansas wrestling All Americans and Academic All Americans at these Kansas colleges over the past four years. This past year at the 2015 National Wrestling Championships, the Kansas College wrestling programs had 52 national qualifiers and 18 All-Americans.

Eleven years ago there were only 6 college programs in Kansas with wrestling. At that time there was 1 four-year college and 5 community college programs. The 2015-16 school year in Kansas will have a total of 13 schools with collegiate wrestling in Kansas. There will be 7 four-year colleges and 6 community colleges around the state providing opportunities for these young student athletes.

You have helped all of these young wrestlers further their wrestling careers in college and more importantly, their academic and career pursuits with your generous support. Over the last four years, the Kansas College Wrestling Fund has generated $72,000 in revenue, paid distribution checks totaling $30,000 and had $8,000 of operating expenses. The projected remaining endowment balance should be approximately $40,000 after the annual distributions are sent to the colleges – in September/October of 2015. During the first four years, 160 individual donors, 20 businesses and 26 clubs and other wrestling organizations contributed to this effort. We are hoping that you will donate again this year. And, we hope to add each year to the number of our donors and the size of our distributions to each college.

Please help these Kansas colleges/university wrestling programs and the young wrestlers of Kansas by donating again this year.

Thank you,

Sean McCarthy
Chairman
Kansas College Wrestling Fund

No amount of support is to small. KEEP wrestling in Kansas strong.
