Concordia, KS- Cloud County Community College has announced the installation of two new athletic programs set to begin in the fall of 2017. Men's Wrestling and Women's Soccer will officially be added as Cloud County Athletic Programs. This will increase the overall number of sports at Cloud County from ten to twelve.

The decision was recently approved by the Cloud County Board of Trustees. "We are always looking at ways to enhance the "community" in Cloud County Community College. When we looked at the athletic programs in our local USDs, we saw how prevalent wrestling is. After that the decision was easy. We are excited to give these young north central Kansans a great opportunity to continue their education," Cloud County President Danette Toone said.
The Thunderbird Wrestling program will join six other schools in the Jayhawk Conference with wrestling. Colby, Barton, Neosho, Pratt, Labette County, and Northwest Tech make up the rest of the Jayhawk Conference.

Cloud County Director of Athletics Matt Bechard sees great opportunity with the addition of wrestling. "With the popularity of the sport in our service area as well as the state of Kansas, we feel the wrestling program will provide opportunity for new student engagement as well as growth for the college."

A search for the first Head Wrestling Coach in Cloud County history will begin in July. All inquiries regarding the wrestling program should be directed to Matt Bechard, at mbechard@cloud.edu.
