It would be great if we could fill out the rest of the season leading up to state. If there is anyone interested in adding a girls division and aren't sure how to do it, please let me know.

The USGWA Kansas State Tournament will be February 23rd.

We usually get Forms in the mail regarding Girl State we have not received anything yet this year. Will there be a Girls State?

Yes there will be. McPherson has again gotten the honor of hosting these tournaments. We are sorry for the short notice on the first tournament. Kent Bailo who was the founder and director of United States Girls Wrestling Association recently retired and didn't let us know that he wouldn't be running a tournament in Kansas. We finally got in touch with him a few weeks ago. Another gentleman (Brent Harvey) is trying to fill the void Kent left. We got in touch with him and finally got all the contracts and arrangements made. Fortunately he was available February 23rd and is willing to send some of his people our way that day. If you go to his website http://www.waroftheroseswrestling.com/ you can check them out and download the flyer. Entries will be done on trackwrestling. You can still walk in the day of the tournament if you don't get preregistered. We are looking forward to hosting you and hope we have as big if not bigger crowd this year. I am hoping to get an email list for all the ladies and get them a flyer as well. The second one USAWKS girls state tournament will be March 23rd.

Brent Harvey is a personal friend of mine ... a great guy!

He recently got the State of Michigan to add a women's only tournament to their HS series!

Are the age groups the same for Girls as Guys? I know that may be a dumb question but with the presuming lower numbers in the girls divisions I wondered. I have a few girls that may be interested in some of these tournaments. Thanks in advance

Depending on the tournament/size you will typically find ages that differ from the guys. This is to get more matches.

For local tournaments I've seen them use:
Elementary, Middle School, High School

2014 USA Folkstyle Nationals Used:
Div 1 05-07, Div 2 02-04, Schoolgirl 00-01, Cadet 98-99, Junior

Also, most tournaments utilize block weights to get optimized bracket sizes.

Is there an updated list of girls tournaments this season?

War of the Roses will be this weekend. The flyer is on their website www.waroftheroseswrestling.com. Registration is through trackwrestling. McPherson is hosting again at Central College.

Do they have to weigh there for WOTR? Can they weigh at a 6U/Elementary state site and send that in? Also what time does the wrestling actually start?

Weigh in is on site, weigh in time is 8:00am to 8:30am or as soon after as possible. We will then bracket and hope to start wrestling by 10:00.
