Once again, Gardner Edgerton will host a loaded slate of teams on the first weekend of the season! With FIVE out of state teams competing against our own state talent, including Manhattan, Mill Valley, Olathe North, Pittsburg, Dodge City, St. James, St. Thomas Aquinas, Baldwin, Junction City, Topeka Seaman and host Gardner, this will be a nails tough opening weekend challenge!

The out of state teams:

Southeast Polk, Iowa - Ranked #1 in Iowa class 3A and #34 nationally ranked by Intermat. With nine ranked wrestlers, the Rams will be the team to beat, winning Iowa State team titles in three of the last four years.

Broken Arrow, OK - The Tigers are ranked #47 nationally and will likely be the prime competition for SE Polk. They have amassed 16 Oklahoma State team titles and have been ranked nationally in ten of the last seventeen years.

Omaha Skutt Catholic, NE - The Skyhawks have won an astounding 17 Nebraska Class B State titles in the last 18 years!! They will once again re-load after their long-time coach stepped down.

Cascia Hall Prep, OK - Last year's state runner-up in Class 4A Oklahoma, Cascia always brings a strong group to this tournament.

Platte County, MO - The Pirates were Missouri State runners-up last season and placed Division 1 wrestlers off a stacked team. This year they return former Kansas phenom and nationally ranked Cody Phippen at 113 pounds.

So, the gauntlet has been thrown down and our Kansas warriors are ready to leave it on the mat or at least leave with a battle mark! We will have SIX of our TOP TEN senior wrestlers competing!!!
