I want to give a shout out to Tim Horgan…

Tim happens to be an assistant at Seaman High School and does a great job for the Vikings, but it is in his capacity as an official that I want to applaud him here.

Tim spearheaded an effort to get young, first-time officials certified from our high school ranks. Not only did he push them through the paperwork process, but also helped hone their skills and helped secure them jobs at kids tournaments to get them started.

I believe if experienced officials followed the model of Coach Horgan, first-year officials would be better prepared to have a good experience with their first jobs and retention rates would be better.
