5 April 2012 Shockers Continue Adding to Roster Wichita State Coaching Staff has announced the verbal commitment of two more high school seniors. These seniors will join the Shocker Wrestling squad in the fall of 2012.
Taylor Krier comes to Wichita State from McPherson High School where he wrestled for Coach Doug Kretzer. Taylor was a two time member of the all-league team and a KSHSAA State Tournament Qualifier. During his junior season, Taylor finished 4th place in the heavyweight division at the state tournament. His career highlight came only a few weeks ago when Taylor was crowned the KSHSAA 4A State Champion at the 195lbs weight class. He will bring a 3.5 GPA to study mechanical engineering at Wichita State.
Devin Webber comes to Wichita State from Wichita High School South where he wrestled for Coach Mike Atlee. Devin was a four time GWAL Tournament medalist and one time champion. He was a three time KSHSAA 6A State Tournament qualifier and a two time placer bringing home 4th and 5th place medals. During his senior season he was crowned the KSHSAA Regional Wrestler of the Year. Devin was also a member of the All-State Academic Team carrying a 3.86 GPA. Devin plans to study sports management or athletic training at Wichita State.
Again two very good students and wrestlers. It is very impressive to see so many of you excelling both in the classroom as well as on the mat this year.
