The point of this discussion, to me, is that the officials are responsible for the well being of the wrestlers. In both clips the official on the whistle did not position himself to see where pressure was being applied. In the Bobcat match the asst. official looked unsure if he even knew a match was being wrestled. The point is if you don't take your job seriously and if you are physically unable to perform the required duties (getting down on the mat and back up in short order) then retire. We need a an overall evaluation system to develop officials and evaluate their abilities. There is no need for me to go on and on but as far as Pixley is concerned, he was trying to win the match, nothing more. It was the OFFICIALS responsibility to recognize the danger and stop it before it became illegal. When Eck blacked out it IMMEDIATELY became an illegal hold, by rule, and the official, no in judgement but by interpretation made bad calls in both of these matches.
